marvel Blade

Marvel just dropped on us,  almost all the content they’re coming out with in the next 3 years. The Marvel panel on Day 2 of Comic Con was truly mind-blowing. We got a lot of confirmations to the things we were already suspecting and we definitely got some surprises. In the panel, Kevin Feigi walked up on the stage and re-announced the Blade movie. It was first announced at SDCC 3 years go, and we’ve been patiently waiting to hear more about it for a long time. We knew that Mahershala Ali is going to play the part but other than that, we never got any updates. But that was until now, as we now know when Blade is coming out and that it will be part of Phase 5. After the Comic Con announcements, a lot of actors and actresses reacted to their roles who couldn’t be there in-attendance. Now,  Mahershala Ali did the same as he acknowledged the Blade movie announcement.

Blade: Mahershala Ali Posts on Instagram

Mahershala Ali uploaded a simple image of the film’s poster and acknowledged the announcement Kevin Feigi just made. He captioned it with a drop of blood emoji and 2023. 2023 is clearly referencing the release date of the film but the drop of blood? Is he suggesting a bloody ride. Does that mean Blade will in fact be R-Rated? There has been quite bit of tension in the fans regarding the Blade movie as they’re not sure whether Marvel will make a R-Rated movie or will they confine it to PG-13?

The Blade movies in the 90s starring Wesley Snipes were R-Rated and fans seem to love them. They want this reboot to have the same vibes but again we can’t be sure of what Marvel will do. The film started filming earlier this year. So far we have only heard Mahershala Ali’s voice as Blade at the end of Eternals. We don’t even have a single first look of him. The character was supposed to appear in Moon Knight but he didn’t, here’s what Moon Knight writer Jeremy Slater had to say about it. In an interview with Comicbook.com he revealed,

“We’re told in advance which characters are a little bit off limits, and I think at the time we were cracking Moon Knight, they were also kind of trying to crack the Blade story and try to figure out what that was. And so I think they wanted to keep them separately.”

However, he further revealed that there was one character that they did consider, “It felt like that would be a waste of the money that it would cost to get Kit Harrington in there. And also it’s just there’s only so much you can tease those reveals before people start to get frustrated and there’s no space in those first two episodes to really have him suit up and really involve the Black Knight in the storyline. So we ultimately said it didn’t make sense to make this connection. But it was definitely something we spent a couple days in the room talking about.”

Blade is slated to release on November 3, 2023
