Loki Season Two: Moon Knight Connection

Loki Season 2 is the biggest Marvel event that is coming this fall. Not to take anything away from The Marvels releasing in November, but the God of Mischief series is both a well crafted piece of content as well as something that is very relevant to the MCU’s current saga. The series was the first one to introduce us the new MCU big bad- Kang. He didn’t appear in his Conqueror variant but nevertheless gave us a glimpse of the power that Kang possess and remember  it is not one person but a dynasty. Although, that dynasty is turning against its own. Kang doesn’t only have to fight our heroes but also himself, like literally… multiple versions of himself. Season 2 of Loki was always going to be crazier. The madness will be doubled down. In fact, the series seems to waste no time in interconnecting the story with other MCU shows.

Loki Season 2 Has A Direct Callback To Moon Knight!

A new clip from Marvel Studios directly sets up a connection between Loki TV series and Moon Knight. At the end of the clip, from Loki Season 2 Episode 1, Casey, a TVA clerk first seen in Season 1, is confirmed to be listening to the Staying Awake podcast; this is what Steven Grant listened to in Moon Knight Episode 1. As Casey removes the headphones in the clip, we hear the words: “Solving puzzles is a great way to keep your mind…” These are the same words that Oscar Isaac’s titular character hears when he tries to stay awake playing with a Rubik’s cube in bed.

You’d be surprised but this isn’t the first time Marvel has driven a direct connection between the two shows. Moon Knight Episode 3 shows us a thug wearing a jacket having Kang’s colors and with a design of an Egyptian pharaoh on the back, fighting Marc Spector, a confirmed reference to the Kang Variant Rama-Tut. However, Loki Season 2’s reference seems more direct and intentional.

You can watch the full Loki clip below, with the Moon Knight podcast able to be heard at the 2:24 mark:

Loki Season 2 will start streaming on Disney+ from 6th October 2023.  Season 1 is available for streaming on the same.
