Loki Season 1 saw the God Of Mischief being captured by the Time Variance Authority as he’d sullied the timeline he belonged in. Just to recap, in Avengers: Endgame as Stark and Scott were trying to get the Tesseract they “mess up” because the Hulk acts out as he had to take the stairs. Subsequently the Tesseracts lands in Loki’s hands and he escapes, messing up the timeline. As a result, the TVA captures him. In his time at the TVA, he meets various variants of himself including an Old Loki and even a Croc Loki. However, more importantly he meets a female variant of himself- Sylvie. Sylvie was captured by the TVA in her childhood to fix the timeline. Since then she made it her life mission to destroy the not so benevolent staff of the TVA.
Our Loki falls in love with Sylvie and adopts her mission as his own. Ultimately, this mission leads the narcissistic couple to the man behind the TVA’s curtain, He Who Remains- Kang the Conqueror. Sylvie’s decision to kill Kang the Conqueror at the end of Season 1 results in multiple versions of him being unleashed that liberates the timeline. Season 1 of Loki left us on a huge cliffhanger as we see Loki, Mobius and Hunter B-15 staring at the statue of Kang the Conqueror with seemingly no memories of him. The post credit scene of the series did confirm a 2nd Season was afoot but it was unclear as how will characters like Sylvie and Ravonna Renslayer be brought back.
The 2nd Season of Loki recently began filming in the UK. Like us many fans are excited for the 2nd Season and they couldn’t control their excitement about it. We’d gotten several set photos and videos from over excited fans which revealed the costumes of Loki and Sylvie. However, there was one important detail that those photos didn’t tell us. The villain for the second season, we didn’t get any set photos of that. However, Marvel just confirmed who will be playing the antagonist to Tom Hiddleston’s Loki.
Loki Season 2: Who Will Kate Dickie Play?
Game of Thrones alumnus Kate Dickie who played Lysa Arryn is a famous Scottish actress, is all set to take over as the big bad of Loki Season 2. Deadline reported that the former The Witch’s star would be playing the villain to Loki. When it comes to which character will she play? That remains a mystery as the report states nothing about that. One thing is clear that she’ll have to do a lot of hard work as she has to continue from Jonathan Majors’ Kang who literally blew open the Multiverse. How she’ll do that? I’ve no clue and has to be seen.
Even if the report doesn’t officially state which character will the Scottish actress play then too, I’ve a feeling that she will be perfect to play Lady Death in the MCU. I don’t know why Lady Death would be in the Loki series but based on the actor’s filmography that is a possibility. There is another rumor about which character will Dickie play and it is none other than Sylvie, don’t get me wrong, she’ll not play Sylvie but an older version of her that has turned evil and bitter. That seems to be right up Dickie’s alley.
Kate Dickie is not the only Game of Thrones star who has found her way to the MCU. She has joined the long list of actors like Emilia Clarke who will debut herself in the MCU through next year’s Secret Invasion, both Kit Harrington and Richard Madden starred in 2021’s Eternals. Dickie is an extremely powerful actor and her addition to the Loki series will simply elevate the show in quality. I simply hope Marvel doesn’t waste another brilliant actor as her dramatic potential is off the charts.
Loki Season 2 is slated on release on Disney+ in mid-2023. Season 1 is available for streaming.
