Thor: Love and Thunder Disturbing Concept Art

With Thor: Love and Thunder, Thor’s story after Endgame continues. Thor becomes the first superhero in the MCU to get a 4th solo outing. The film marks the return of regular players in a Thor film and some new entries – Chris Hemsworth, Tessa Thompson, Natalie Portman, Russell Crowe, Taika Waititi, , Chris Pratt, Jaimie Alexander, Pom Klementieff, Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan, Sean Gunn, and Vin Diesel and Christian Bale. The film is directed by Thor: Ragnarok fame Taika Waititi. He also co-wrote the film’s screenplay with Jennifer Kaytin Robinson. The film focuses on Thor’s journey after the events of Endgame. We seemingly weren’t sure where Thor’s story would go next but this film gives us a good idea of it.

We’re introduced to Gorr the God Butcher in this film. The film is just above 2 hours and to wrap it up quickly it is mixed bag of fake emotions and dry humor. With conflicting tones and misplaced humor the movie was a mediocre affair.

The film had gotten mixed reviews since its premiere. However, as the days have gone by and the film has opened to audiences those opinions have drastically changed as the film is now being considered one of the worst films in the entire MCU. As the film’s box office run is running out of fuel, Marvel has announced the streaming date for the film. Recently we got updates on the extra featurettes that we’ll be getting in the Blu-rays and DVDs. We even got to see the concept art of Grandmaster’s deleted scene. Today, we have something similar. We have early concept arts of the film which shows some of the dark scenes Waititi and Bale were addressing in their interviews.

Thor: Love and Thunder, Gorr Uses Children’s Soul to Open Eternity’s Gates?

Taika Waititi and Christian Bale were addressing Gorr’s screentime in the film where both of them agreed there are many Gorr that were cut out. Bale even said that they’ve left out some real gold. While we had no idea what those scenes actually were but from their description of them, we can certainly make out that there was some dark stuff. Given the film’s criticism, we might’ve actually gotten some evidence of the dark scenes in the film’s early drafts.

Concept Artist George Hull shared some of his early works on the film where we can see a very different kind of climax than we got for the film. Hull admitted himself that Waititi was unsure of the film’s climax and had many alternate endings. At first, he thought that Gorr would need children’s souls to open the gates of Eternity but then later decided to streamline the climax. To be honest, this climax makes a lot of sense as if Gorr only needed the children to lure Thor in and take the Stormbreaker why didn’t he leave them in the Shadow Realm?

Why did he bring them with him near the gates of Eternity. This is why. There is no logical explanation for the children being there if they were simply bait. The post below shows us multiple images and videos that had Gorr using children’s souls to open the gate. In the film, he only needed the Bifrost, which he could only summon through Stormbreaker. An image specifically shows the Bifrost travelling through the child’s body and then opening the gates. I don’t know why they cut this out but this would’ve made the mundane film interesting.

Thor: Love and Thunder will be available for streaming on Disney+ from September 8th 2022 and as physical media from 27th September 2022.
