Ahsoka: Hayden Christensen Talks About His Return As Anakin Skywalker

Following Hayden Christensen’s return as Anakin Skywalker in Star Wars: Ahsoka, the actor addressed his return to his iconic role. After over a decade away from the franchise, Christensen is back again in the galaxy far far away, appearing in last year’s Obi-Wan Kenobi. In Episode 4, he finally made his debut, acting opposite his character’s Padawan learner for the first time. Director Peter Ramsey said this moment “had a lot of meaning for [the Anakin star]”

Hayden Christensen’s Anakin Skywalker is Back in Ahsoka

In an interview, recorded before the ongoing SAG strike, Christensen talked about his return in Episodes 4 and 5. Speaking in a new featurette, he said, “When I got the phone call to talk about being a part of the ‘Ahsoka’ project, I was thrilled.” The Star Wars actor continued to express he is “very grateful” for this opportunity. “Putting on the Anakin costume, getting to wear those Jedi robes, it kind of blows your mind every time. I just feel very grateful.”

The actor presently has nothing lined up (at least publicly) within the franchise. However, the probability of his further appearances in the last few episodes of Ahsoka is always there. Another place where fans might his character again is in the long-speculated Season 2 of Obi-Wan Kenobi. According to Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy, a second batch of episodes for the Ewan McGregor-led streaming series is “not in active development.” However, that has not restrained the series’ stars from pitching ideas for season 2. So, Ahsoka might be it for Christensen’s Anakin Skywalker even though fans are frantic about his return.

New episodes of Ahsoka are streaming on Disney+ every Tuesday at 9 p.m. ET until October 3.
