Even though he was one of the largely fogotten Star Wars characters, Diego Luna’s portrayal as Cassian Andor in Rogue One was one of the film’s strongest aspects. And while the outcome of Andor’s story is known, much of his past is still a mystery. The upcoming live-action prequel series will center around the rebel’s dark and sinister past. In May 2022, Disney not only revealed that Andor would arrive on August 31 but also dropped a trailer teasing fans of what was to follow. With just a month left before its release, Star Wars is all set to debut a new trailer for Andor.

The series is placed 5 years before the events of Rogue One and will follow the story of Cassian Andor. It is set to be the longest Star Wars series yet and its first season will have 12 episodes. This is way more than any of us expected and beats out The Mandalorian (8 episodes/season), The Book of Boba Fett (7 Episodes), and Obi-Wan Kenobi (6 Episodes) in length. Now it has also been confirmed that the second season will also span 12 episodes and will culminate the series.
The first season will cover one year of events in Cassian’s life and the second season will jump a year every 3 episodes. Hence, it will cover 4 years of Andor’s life and culminate his storyline at the point where Rogue One began. So, it seems like it is a block solid plan and will last exactly 24 episodes with no scope of further plot. So, no, there won’t be an Andor season 3 as we all know Cassian met his maker in Rogue One and season 2 will conclude his story.
Along with Luna, Genevieve O’Reilly and Forest Whitaker also reprise their roles from Rogue One. The other members of the main cast include Stellan Skarsgard,, Adria Arjona, Fiona Shaw, Denise Gough, and Kyle Soller. Will it be able to match the greatness of The Mandalorian?
