Andor Timeline and Rogue One Connection Explained

WARNING: The following para contains spoilers to Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (2016) and The Mandalorian.

For fans of star wars and audience who have seen Rogue One, Cassian Andor is the leader of the rebels who travel to the planet Scarif along with Jyn Erso, the daughter of Galen Erso who designed the power source of the Death Star and is initially supposed to be assassinated by Andor to prevent the creation of Death Star. But Andor decides not to kill him and decides to steal the schematics along with his team and transmit them to Princess Leia’s rebel forces. During the mission, they were ambushed by Krennic, the director of advanced weapons research for the Empire, who forced Galen into building Death Star. A wounded Andor manages to kill Krennic, while Jyn, the only alive member of Andor’s team, manages to send the plans successfully to Rebel forces in the orbit.  Andor and Jyn embrace as Death Star fires upon Scarif, killing both of them.

The two seasons of Andor thus serve as a prequel to Rogue One. Also it should be clear y now that it will not be a part of the Mandalorian universe which takes place after the events of Return of the Jedi. If you are looking for a show set in that timeline, check out the upcoming show Ahsoka, featuring Rosario Dawson’s character from The Mandolrian and Clone Wars.
