CW’s The Flash was one of the best live-action production by DC until it went downhill ever since Season 6. But it still remains a fan favorite and one of the bet DC CW shows with the ability to surprise fans now and then. The Flash is currently on Season 8 but Season 9 has already been confirmed and it can potentially be the final season of the show. Here’s what we know about it.
Is Flash Web Series Over?
While in an interview with Entertainment Weekly, showrunner Eric Wallace talked in length about his plans for the upcoming season 9 of The Flash. He pointed out that he’ll work on it considering it to be the final season, but he hopes that it isn’t. Wallace wants to complete the journey of Team Flash and that we will see the original ending of the show in Season 8’s finale. But there are still stories to be told in Season 9 and he hopes that this isn’t the end. Here’s exactly what he said:
I hope next year isn’t the last season, knock on wood. But I have to now plan, going into season 9… I mean, I have to plan it that way, just in case. I don’t want to get caught unawares. I don’t want the audience to get caught with a cliffhanger that doesn’t get resolved or anything like that. I want to make sure that we complete the journey that Barry, Iris, and Team Flash have been on. This isn’t a spoiler, but you’ll see the moment in this season’s finale which was the original ending where we’ve resolved the plot, we’ve defeated the big bad, and all that stuff. That was going to be the end of the season. Then when we got the pickup — thank goodness — you’ll see something that will set up next year in a very fun and delightful way that both resolves the shenanigans in the Still Force, which are going to get wilder; this is our biggest, craziest season finale ever, and it starts here. The good news is we do resolve it, Barry and Iris are okay, and we’ve even got the bonus that we get to add a little tag to set up next year that I’m very excited about. But I will approach [next season] as the final season unless somebody tells me differently — and I hope they do, because there’s still many more Flash stories to tell.
So this confirms that The Flash is surely returning for a Season 9 and that might be the ending point of the show. The Flash has enjoyed a fine run and has maintained a loyal audience ever since 2014. These fans can rejoice now as they’ll see Grant Gustin once again donning the Flash costume potentially for last time.
Flash Season 8 Episode 16 is all set to debut next week on Wednesday, 25th May 2022 on CW.
