Guillermo del Toro is one of the most noteworthy directors working in the industry right now. He is a master when it comes to creating cinematic mythos using literary lore. He knows how to tell a visual story creating frames that last with you for a long time. His films mostly lie in fantasy and horror genres. However, not conventional horror. I mean it is not a generic horror film or an ultra experimental film that promises us scares but only has “intellectual ideology” or “inventive” storytelling in store for the audience. However, del Toro uses great characters, myth, visuals, lore and fantastic concepts to scare us.
He is not the one to be afraid of using jump scares as well but there is more to his horror. Guillermo del Toro won his long awaited Oscar in 2017 for his film Shape of Water. After which the veteran director has been associated with multiple projects. His latest venture was an adaptation of the Italian classic Pinocchio. Well, it looks like he is not done with classics just yet.
