Outer Banks Season 4 is returning with several characters from the previous season while continuing the Pogues’ adventures. The Netflix show revolves around a group of Pogue teenagers and wealthy seasonal Kooks residents in search of a lost treasure. Season 1 of Outer Banks premiered on Netflix on April 15, 2020. We don’t know when the series will conclude, but the Season 4 renewal suggests that the story is far from the end.
Release Date of Outer Banks Season 4
In February 23, 2022, Netflix announced that Outer Banks was renewed for Season 4. The latest season was scheduled to start filming on May 30 with an estimated wrap-up date of December 15. Affected by the writer’s strike, the show was pushed to June 2023. The filming had already begun on June 12. However, the production was ultimately halted once the actor’s strike began in July. Kimmie Stewart Casting, Outer Banks’ casting agency confirmed, “Effective now we have suspended filming. We will keep everyone updated as we receive information.” If the production was postponed last May, then the ideal release period for Season 4 is either spring or summer 2024.

What Can You Expect from this Season of Outer Banks?
In the Season 3 finale, Wes approaches the Pogues to tell them he needs partners to help him find another treasure. The treasure looks like it belongs to the pirate Blackbeard, Edward Teach. Season 4 will explore the Pogues’ quest to find the treasure while dealing with the demise of John B’s father and Ward. The Pogues will likely split up, considering that the epilogue hinted that Pope will be going to school. A few other things that Season 4 could explore are Denmark Tanny’s connection to Blackbeard, Carla Limbrey’s mysterious recovery, and the new owner of the Royal Merchant’s gold.
In April 2020, Outer Banks showrunner and creator Jonas Pate told Entertainment Weekly: “Ever since we started, we always viewed it as something that was probably like a four-season, maybe five-season show, but definitely four seasons. We’ve sort of long-arced it out pretty far. I’m just hoping that we get a chance to actually tell those stories.” In February 2023, in an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Outer Banks creator Jonas Pater shared, “I don’t know if I could put a real number on it right now — how long it takes to get to that ending might expand, but we now know the shape of the end of the story. We’re going to take it as long as we can, for sure.”
