Stranger Things has become a household name thanks to the crazy fan following that the show has developed over the years. The show that started out with a bunch of teenagers has taken the world by a storm, with its final season demolishing Netflix viewership ratings. The continuous and never ending success that Stranger Things has provided Netflix with is rare. With the show ending next season it is definitely a loss for Netflix, so they’re expanding the universe of the show to keep their subscriber rate stable. We have been hearing about potential spin-off shows but nothing concrete was revealed. The showrunners were heavily concentrating on the final season hence, the lack of update on the spin-offs. Thankfully, that changes today. We have an official announcement about a new Stranger Things spin-off which is animated.
Stranger Things Gets An Animated Spin-off!
Stranger Things is ending with the fifth season. While it is a sad and rejoicing time, it is also the time where we learn more about how this universe will continue. As the main story of Stranger Things is ending it is interesting to see how will the universe expand broaden the horizon and scope of the Duffer Brothers’ brainchild. Ahead of the fifth season, Netflix along with show creators and runners Matt Duffer, Ross Duffer and director Shawn Levy has made a huge announcement about an animated spin-off show in the Stranger Things universe.
The announcement read: “We’ve always dreamed of an animated Stranger Things in the vein of the Saturday morning cartoons that we grew up loving, and to see this dream realized has been absolutely thrilling. We couldn’t be more blown away by what Eric Robles and his team have come up with — the scripts and artwork are incredible, and we can’t wait to share more with you! The adventure continues…”
As for who is developing the animated series, details about the studio and staff for the new Stranger Things anime will be revealed at a later date. As for the main series, Stranger Things 5 is currently scheduled to start filming this May without a set release window or date set for the new season of episodes just yet.
All Four seasons of Stranger Things are available for streaming on Netflix. Season 5 is rumored to come out on Netflix sometime in late 2024 or early 2025.
