Superman: Legacy, as you may know, is the new Superman reboot film. I mean I know we’d gotten Man of Steel in 2013 but apparently we’ll get a new Superman and Batman every 10 years. Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel was the best till date. So much to his credit the perils of the DCEU were no fault of Man of Steel. Despite having the best Superman ever – Henry Cavill, DC has made the controversial choice of starting all over with a new actor as the Symbol of Hope. A thing in favor of the film is that James Gunn is writing the reboot and reportedly also helming it. While, there has been a lot of discussion about who will be the new Superman, with names popping up like David Corenswet, Tom Brittney, Andrew Richardson and most recently Pierson Fodé, a new report also tells us that he is not the only superhero in the film.
Every Superhero Rumored To Appear In Superman: Legacy!
The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed that there will be another group of superheroes debuting alongside Superman in James Gunn’s reboot. This report states that The Authority- who are a team of superheroes set to get their own film in the new DCU will make their debut in Superman: Legacy. In the original announcement of the slate, James Gunn had called The Authority his passion project. The filmmaker had said, “This is one of my real passion projects. I’ve been working really hard on it with the writers and we’re starting to put together the entire story. This is a big movie. I don’t know how many of you are familiar with the Authority. They’re WildStorm characters. WildStorm was a comics imprint that was bought by DC that I really love. We’re moving a lot of these WildStorm characters into the DCU.”
He further elaborated, “‘The Authority’’s a very different kind of superhero story. They are basically good-intentioned, but they think that the world is completely broken and the only way to fix it is to take things into their own hands, whether that means killing people, destroying heads of state, changing governments—basically, whatever they want to do to make the world better.” Gunn concluded with, “We’ll see how that journey goes for them. There are morally gray characters (in our DCU), of which these are… We love that they think the ends justify the means and they’re the ones that decide what the right ends are.”
The members of this team alongside Lex Luthor will be cast once Superman and Lois Lane’s casts are confirmed.
Superman: Legacy is the first movie in the new DC slate and is supposed to release on 11th July 2025.
