Nobody is a 2021 action film starring Bob Odenkirk, Connie Neilsen and Christopher Llyod in prominent roles. The film was helmed by Ilya Naishuller and the music for the film was given by David Buckley. Nobody was written by someone who is a master of writing action – Derek Kolstad. Why? Well, he singlehandedly wrote the first two chapters of John Wick. The third chapter was co-written by him, Chris Collin, Shay Hatten and Marc Abrams. The film follows a guy named Hutch Mansell whose life is changed after his house is robbed by some thieves. After the incident finds he goes on a quest to punish the thieves that did that to him.
However, this quest leads him to earning the wrath of a crime lord, Yulian, after he attacks his brother. The film was released on 26th March 2021 and was an instant success. Considering the success of the film the talks of a sequel were abuzz. Soon there was an official confirmation that the film is indeed getting a sequel. Today, we have an update on the sequel’s development.
Nobody 2: Coming Next Year?
Kelly McCormick who produced Nobody in a recent interview with Collider to discuss her latest film Violent Night, revealed few details about the upcoming sequel. The 87North producer said, “We hope to make it [Nobody 2’s production] next year, so fingers crossed. So our theory is you don’t need to make a good sequel just to make a sequel. We need to make a great sequel. And so it’s about making sure that we get it right. And if we do, I think there’s a lot of hope that we can go next year.”
Nobody had grossed $57 Million on a budget of $15 Million in a Covid-19 atmosphere. McCormick’s comments go hand in hand with her co-producer- David Leitch. Earlier this year, Leitch too had given us an update regarding the sequel and the filmmaker said, “Oh, I think everyone’s really excited about it. Everyone involved is like, ‘Full steam ahead.’ We are in the script process, and I think we had so much fun making that. Kelly [McCormick] and I had a blast, the actors had a blast, the studio loved the results, and it’s happening. I mean, I think it’s happening as fast as we can make it happen.”
Nobody 2 is rumored to release in late 2023 and early 2024.
