Transformers Rise of the Beasts Trailer Looks Promising!

Transformers, have you heard of them? You’d be kidding if you said no or you live in North Korea. Regardless, Transformers was an extremely famous animated shows that started in the 80s and gained popularity. The show spawned many movies but those were all animated as well. It wasn’t until 2007, when Michael Bay decided to make this cartoon series into a feature film series. The first Transformers starred Megan Fox and Shia LaBeouf in lead roles. The movie was made on an hefty budget of $140 Million, however, the film made $709 Million on the box office making it an instant success. The critical reception for the film wasn’t bad as well. The success of the first film led to numerous sequels that deteriorated in quality overtime.

Michael Bay’s filmography has an annoying habit, he makes the same film over and over again but he creates an illusion for the audience that it is a new film. Take any Transformers film and list down the bare elements in that film and the beats of the screenplay you’d realize there is subtle to no difference at all. As it was Transformers, the films continued to make money. The original trilogy of Transformers ended in 2011 with Transformers: Dark of the Moon following its predecessor Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. Both the sequels were terrible in quality but as they were Transformers, the films were box office juggernauts. After the trilogy, Bay decided that franchise hadn’t run its course so he made another movie called Transformers: Age of Extinction in 2014 and after that Transformers: The Last Knight in 2017.

Both the films were once again terrible despite being soft reboots having a new face like Mark Walberg. The films continued to be extremely successful on the box office. However, after Last Knight there was no Transformers movie or should I say no Transformers movie directed by Michael Bay. We got a spin-off Bumblebee movie which was surprisingly great. However, since then Transformers seemed to be extinct but not for long as the new addition to the franchise aka Transformers: Rise of the Beasts is here with a trailer to impress with its visuals.

Transformers: Rise of the Beasts Trailer Gives Fans Some Hope!

It seems like the Michael Bay Transformers era has ended, for good. The Transformers franchise has had yet another reboot but this time I think the studio has fixed the long lasting problems with the Transformers films- the director. As Paramount has replaced Bay as the director this reboot actually makes sense as now we will finally get to see a Transformers film that is different and unique. Paramount has also taken the correct decision of passing the baton to Steven Caple Jr. who directed Creed II and directed it very well.

While the new film is a reboot, it is a direct sequel to 2018’s Bumblebee. The reboot stars Pete Davidson, Anthony Ramos, Peter Cullen, Ron Periman, Dominique Fishback, Tobe Nwigwe, and Lauren Velez. The premise of the reboot is, “During the 1990s, the Maximals, Predacons and Terrorcons join the existing battle on Earth between Autobots and Decepticons.” The trailer of the film showcases numerous action sequences that look intense. Anthony Ramos who will be appearing in Ironheart as the Hood will be taking over as the face of the franchise (human).

The look of all the characters has been altered, most significantly Optimus Prime who has been hero of the franchise that the fans have fallen in love with and who for the most part has kept the franchise going. Credit must also be given to veteran voice actor Peter Cullen who has voiced Prime in all the Transformers content that has ever come out, be it the TV series, animated movie or live action movies. The trailer for the reboot certainly looks promising, hopefully this will be a valuable addition to the Transformers franchise and not a Michael Bay one.

Transformers: Rise of the Beasts is slated to release in theatres near you on 9th June 2023.
