From the moment it was announced, Black Adam was supposed to revolutionize the DCEU. It was marketed as the Superhero film that the hour needs. Something that we had to see. The movie in my opinion had taken all the right calls, especially cast Dwayne Johnson as the titular character. Given the year that we’ve had where every superhero film has disappointed us except for The Batman, I was really looking forward to this film as I genuinely wanted to be enthralled by a superhero film, like I did when I was 16. I feel sad to say, Black Adam is not that film. It is not a revolution that the DCEU needs. Its quiet simply a film that is self aware and invests heavily in action sequences and doesn’t pay heed to its screenplay which is one of the weakest of the year.
The most disappointing part of the film was Dwayne Johnson himself as I’ve not seen a more one dimensional performance from him before. The film until now has been very successful and I have no reason to think it won’t be going forward. Pierce Brosnan’s Doctor Fate was the absolute highlight of the film followed by Henry Cavill as Superman. Cavill appeared in the mid credits scene and there was no Post Credit scene in the film. However, today it is being reported that there was indeed a post credit scene in the film which had to be chopped off.
Black Adam: Post Credit Scene Teases Doctor Fate’s Future?
Black Adam’s mid credit scene saw Amanda Waller sends a message to Black Adam that if he wishes not to be imprisoned then he should stay in Khandaq not move from there. Black Adam doesn’t believe anyone from Earth can harm him and that is where we see Henry Cavill’s Superman making an entrance. The scene ends with Superman wanting to talk to Black Adam. As cool as this scene was, there was a follow-up scene that teased the future of Doctor Fate in the DCEU. Pierce Brosnan’s Superhero sacrificed himself in the film to defeat Sabbac.
Many fans were upset by this as they really loved Doctor Fate in his first outing and seeing him lasting only one movie was disappointing. However, the producers of the film had previously stated that the character can make his return to the DCEU and the door is open for everything. Today’s report helps us understand why they said this. According to The Direct, the film had shot another post credit scene which didn’t make the final cut. After Doctor Fate’s helmet disintegrates from Hawkman’s hands we don’t know where it goes.
The post credit scene shows us that there is a wide desert, the camera pans up and we see Doctor Fate’s helmet on top of a sand dune. A hand then comes into the frame to pick up The Helmet of Fate, although the scene quickly cuts to black before the identity of the mystery individual can be revealed. I’m not sure whether this scene was supposed to be before or after Cavill’s appearance. I’m not even sure why it was removed. Some people say, since the helmet had disintegrated, it didn’t make sense for this scene to be there.
Although, in my opinion the disintegration of the helmet can be simply explained as its way to travel and it travelled to this unknown desert. Regardless, let me know what you think of this post credit scene and would you have liked to see this in the final cut of the film? And do you want this post credit scene to be released online now?
