WB Has No Plans For Zack Snyder and SnyderVerse, Confirms Lee

Warner Bros. and DC Films have stated that there are no current plans to “#RestoreTheSnyderVerse,” according to DC Publisher and Chief Creative Officer Jim Lee. The “SnyderVerse” started with Man of Steel (2013), directed by Zack Snyder, which is now regarded as the beginning of the DC Extended Universe. Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, which debuted in theatres in 2016, saw the return of Snyder as the director. Other DCEU movies that came out around the same time include David Ayer’s Suicide Squad (2016) and Patty Jenkins’ Wonder Woman (2017).

Lee Discussed Working With Many Of The DCEU’s Films Minus Zack Snyder

During a panel at San Diego Comic-Con 2022, the renowned comic book artist said, “You know what’s amazing, is that we spent two years in lockdown – and here we are, back at a convention, celebrating the art form, feeling good. I work on the projects that are in development. And so, I think the Snyder Cut was Zack’s vision realized, and it was a really satisfying story told, but there’s no plans for additional work on that material. So, I was happy to help contribute to the pitch for the other stuff, and it was kind of fun to actually see that stuff get out there, ’cause I did that years ago. I actually thought it had been erased, but they had kept it in storage.”

Zack Snyder’s Justice League premiered exclusively on HBO Max in 2021 as a result of the #ReleaseTheSnyderCut social media campaign going viral, which called on Warner Bros. Pictures and DC to release a version of the movie closer to Snyder’s original vision and more consistent with his previous DCEU releases.

But in the meanwhile, the DCEU had essentially moved on from Snyder, with several other filmmakers being chosen to head new movies that pushed the series in a number of different directions and were only loosely connected to the Snyder trilogy.

According to a recent rumour, Henry Cavill will attend Comic-Con and speak about Superman. This comes amid speculations that Superman may make a brief cameo appearance in Black Adam in October. Warner Bros. will spotlight both Shazam!: Fury of the Gods and Black Adam in SDCC’s Hall H this Saturday afternoon, hours before Marvel Studios’ highly anticipated panel.
