Marvel has been known to hire actors who aren’t a household name and make them superstars but since their status has risen to the Moon, they’re actually considering attaching big names to their brand and exploit the actor’s IP to grow even bigger. With Eternals, Moon Knight and the recent Marvel movies drawing big names from Hollywood like Oscar Isaac and Angelina Jolie. A recent rumor also suggests that Blade Runner 2049 star Ryan Gosling wants to join the MCU as Ghost Rider. However the biggest star joining the MCU has to be one actress who’ll be appearing in the upcoming Secret Invasion. Hint: Her ex co-star starred in Eternals alongside Angelina Jolie. Okay, that co-star is Kit Harrington and the actress in Emilia Clarke .
Clarke’s addition to the MCU surfaced last year and after that she was seen in some leaked footage of the Secret Invasion ‘s filming. The footage showed the GOT star being chased by Cobie Smulders’ Agent Maria Hill. The footage also showed her being pushed to the ground and get choked by Maria Hill. The filming was taking place in London. Even though it’s been a while since we know she is joining the MCU but what we had no clue as what or rather who? Well thanks to a recent rumor we might have an idea as to what the Mother of Dragons play next.
Is the Mother of Dragons Playing a Skrull in the Secret Invasion?
Clarke had joined the MCU for the Secret Invasion series. Insider’s Daniel Richtman revealed on his Patreon account that Emilia Clarke will play the well-known Skrull from the Comic Con named G’iah in the upcoming Secret Invasion Series. The report originally surfaced online in July right about the time when Marvel Studios took the stage at San Diego Comic-Con. Now, comic book readers are aware that G’iah is an extremely important character in the Secret Invasion storyline.
G’iah in the comics was in cahoots with the Skrulls at first. She helped them in their invasion but after seeing the brutality of her kind her heart aches. Considering the mess and anarchy the Skrulls have caused on Earth in order to accomplish their goals, G’iah switches sides and joins the humans in their fight against the Skrulls. I see this playing out in a very similar way in the series as well. As we’ve already seen Skrulls’ existence on Earth in Captain Marvel and Spider-Man: Far From Home we know the Invasion has already started.
They might’ve come to Earth as refugees but some of them will go rogue and try to gain power. Maybe Talos and some of his associates stay on Fury’s side but others will wreck havoc. G’iah aka Emilia Clarke will at first be on the bad side but afterwards she’ll join Nick Fury and Maria Hill. While no set footage has shown Clarke in her Skrull form but the way Emilia Clarke is talking about how she is worried that she’ll spill some information about her role and get in trouble from Marvel, it is clear that they want to keep the character under wraps.
Hopefully as the premiere of the show is coming near we’ll get more leaks and updates about Clarke’s character. Along with the Mother of Dragons- Emilia Clarke, the show also stars Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury), Ben Mendelsohn (Talos), Cobie Smulders (Maria Hill), Don Cheadle (Colonel James Rhodes), Martin Freeman (Everett Ross), and Dermot Mulroney (U.S. President Ritson). Actors with unconfirmed roles include Olivia Colman, Kingsley Ben-Adir, Christopher McDonald, Killian Scott, and Irina Kara.
Secret Invasion will start streaming on Disney+ in Spring 2023.
