Game of Thrones’ end suggested that we won’t ever see a royal saga like this again. But HBO wasn’t done giving us adaptations of George R.R. Martin’s works. There came the idea of a prequel, a prequel that would tell the story of the infamous house that ruled over the Seven Kingdoms before Robert Baratheon and Ned Stark’s rebellion. The house whose people are closer to gods than men. The house that tamed the greatest power the world has seen- dragons. The house our Mother of Dragons – Daenerys Stormborn belonged to: House Targaryen or rather House of the Dragon. The show’s events are set 172 years before Daenerys Targaryen. The prequel focuses on King Viserys I’s rule. The rule that was going to give us the Dance of the Dragons. However, the show isn’t there yet.
The show is based on another book of George R.R. Martin’s Fire and Blood. The pilot of the prequel became HBO’s biggest debut and has since continued its glorious run with each episodes seeing a rise in viewership numbers. The latest report suggests that the show has an average audience of 29 Million per episode, making it the biggest hit after Game of Thrones. The show’s premise started out to be the king’s choice between his daughter and his brother but as things stand now, they’re quote complicated. Speaking about his brother, Daemon has been one of the stand outs and fan favorite characters of the show that the fans have fallen in love with. Despite his questionable actions, Daemon remains to be treat to watch on screen due to his unique personality and the charisma that Matt Smith brings to the character.
The writing for him has been spot on and as it looks like, the writers had planned to explore another shade of his personality in the latest episode. However, unfortunately for some reason the scene was cut out. Although, stills from the deleted scene have surfaced online and giving us an idea of what the scene revealed.
House of the Dragon Episode 6: Is Daemon Bisexual?
Episode 6 began with introducing us to the new Daemon and the fresh lifestyle that he has adopted. He is traveler now and is currently residing in Pentos with his wife Laena Velaryon and his two daughters. The deleted scene is a part of the same track. Daemon has always been someone who is sexually promiscuous. We have eye witnessed multiple times his time of leisure. It is clear that Daemon likes girls. He has further fathered two children with Laena. The sizzling chemistry between Daemon and Rhaenyra is a testament of his sexual preference.
However, just one deleted scene in the episode would’ve caused a lot of confusion. In the city of Pentos, Daemon is seen grabbing a male servant’s and intimately whispering something in his ears. While Laena just walks in there. The causality with which Laena is entering the scene does suggests that she already knows and doesn’t have a problem with it. It means this is normal for her. Seeing that Daemon takes Rhaenyra to a pleasure house where all kinds of sexual preferences were promoted proves that Daemon is okay with homosexuality.
Laena and Daemon had a conventional track but the deleted scene did hint Daemon’s bisexuality. Whether it will be explored further or not that has to be seen. The deleted scene was revealed via a behind-the-scenes featurette shared by HBO Max and the blink-and-you’ll-miss-it moment was highlighted by Out of Context House of the Dragon on Twitter. Both the video (at the 2:32 mark) and the tweet show a brief look at Daemon being intimate with the same servant he was making eye contact with and whispering to earlier in episode 6.
