The Mandalorian Season 3 Episode 6 – Getting Sick of Bo-Katan Darksaber

Disney Plus and Star War’s flagship show The Mandalorian is back with its highly anticipated season 3. Although the first episode kind of failed to replicate the magic of first two seasons, we are all pretty optimistic about what awaits us in the rest of the season. Thankfully Episode 2 was a solid return to form which took you back to the glory days of The Mandalorian. And while Episode 3 and 4 being good were somewhat debatable, Episode 5 was definitely a good one. Episode 6 is the one many fans have been waiting for as it has been directed by Bryce Dallas Howard and she has consistently directed great episodes every season. So, read on to catch our in-depth review of The Mandalorian Season 3 Episode 6 below but beware that some MAJOR SPOILERS follow below! Review Marathon – Episode 1 / Episode 2 / Episode 3 / Episode 4 /Episode 5.

The Mandalorian Season 3 Episode 6 – Getting Sick of Bo-Katan!

Rating – ★★★

While Mandalorian is often considered to be the best Star Wars show as well as the best of modern Star Wars, the said cannot be said for Season 3 and definitely not for this particular episode. The Mandalorian Season 3 Episode 6 is not just the worst of this season but the series as a whole. That said, it is still a highly watchable and averagely enjoyable Star Wars episode. But what went wrong with this episode, which we were all excited about? I mean the Bryce Dallas Star Wars episodes have been great so far and in fact, “The Return of the Mandalorian” episode from TBOBF was the best of that series! So, let us dissect what went wrong here.

First of all, to everyone saying that the episode feels like a side quest, well that is what Mandalorian has always been barring the final few episodes of Season 2. The main issue is that it doesn’t feel like a Din Djarin and Grogu show anymore as it feels like they have been demoted to side characters this season. The only time where Grogu did something cool this season was when he helped in rescuing Din, and the only time Din did something cool all alone in this season is non-existent. There is absolutely nothing he did all season so far that would make him worthy of being the lead character. But he IS the lead character and we all want him to be the lead character, however, it feels like writers have different plans.

The Green Knight Rises

Ever since episode 2, Bo-katan has been the highlight of this show and honestly, at this point viewers are a bit sick of that. It feels like a Bo-Katan show and we can’t even complain as the show is called “The Mandalorian” and not Din Djarin. So, is Bo-Katan the lead now? As of now, it does feel that way as she is the one who rescued Din, she is the only who saw the Mythosaur, she is the one with back to back kickass moments, she is the one who has been chosen to lead by the Armorer, and now she is the one with the DarkSaber. So, my question to Din Djarin is, “how does it feel to be the Grogu of your own show?” And my question to ‘Sir Grogu’ is, “how does it feel to go from a cute sidekick to being completely useless knight?” And finally my question to the writers is, “why are you doing this to us?!!”

Anyways, this episode was a complete lackluster with an uninteresting side-quest, unnecessary cameos, overuse of the iconic phrase “I have spoken”, and the worst written technical reason of how Bo-katan now deserves the DarkSaber. I mean come on, that was a 5-year-old-kid logic that Din used to pass on the saber to Bo. Saving grace of this episode was the action sequence between Bo-Katan and Axe Woves, which sure was creative, well directed as well as well executed. The episode gave us the answer to what Koska Reeves and Axe Woves have been doing since season 2. Also, it ultimately ended with Bo-Katan uniting the Mandalorians but that felt very rushed and sidelined as the episode instead favored that poorly written side quest.

Final Verdict – The Mandalorian Season 3 Episode 6 is the lowest point of the series so far owing to uninteresting secondary plot and highly rushed main plot. Of course, it ends up being entertaining owing to its visuals and action but all in all, it ends up being a lackluster with poor writing and flawed direction. Also, none of us have any idea where this season is going even with just 2 episodes to go. So, Bryce Dallas Howard, you missed your mark this time girl!

The first two seasons and the first 6 episodes of Season 3 of The Mandalorian are now streaming on Disney Plus. Season 3 episode 7 will air on 12th April at 12:00 AM PT.
