The Recruit Season 2 Release Date, Cast, Plot, and More

If you are unaware, The Recruit is yet another American spy-adventure television series and has been created by Alexi Hawley for Netflix. It follows Owen Hendricks (Noah Centineo), a CIA lawyer who becomes involved in massive international conflicts with dangerous parties after an asset tries to expose her relationship to the agency. The first season of the series was released on Netflix on December 16, 2022. After getting positive verdicts, the series was renewed for a second season in January 2023. Since then fans have been waiting for more updates on the same and that is exactly what this article is about.

When Is The Recruit Season 2 Coming Out?

As mentioned above, The Recruit Season 2 was confirmed to return in January 2023. During the Netflix TUDUM event, Alexi Hawley said, “I’m thrilled to dive back into the fun, funny, action-packed world of The Recruit. Seeing how invested our audience became in the show’s adventurous take on the spy world and Noah’s turn as Owen has been incredibly rewarding, and I can’t wait to turn it all up to 11 in Season Two.” Noah Centineo also expressed his thrill returning as the main character Owen Hendricks as well as one of the executive producers.

Season 2 was supposed to start filming in June 2023, but was pushed back to August 2023. Then owing to the WAG and SAG-AFTRA strikes, it was delayed indefinitely. So, its release date directly depends on when the SAG-AFTRA strikes end and the filming begins. Once the filming begins it would take at least 6 months to wrap the production and enter the post-production. This estimate is based on Season 1 filming which also lasted 6 months. After that there would be additional 5-6 months of post production. So even if the filming somehow begins next month itself, we still still won’t see The Recruit season 2 before Q4 2024 or early 2025.

Season 2 Cast and Plot

Cliff-hanger endings are like the life-blood of most web series these days and The Recruit Season 1 was no different. The season ended with a high-stakes chase after Owen and Max were taken hostage by Max’s daughter, Karolina. Furthermore, Karolina shot her own mother leaving viewers on a massive cliff-hanger. Talking about season Noah Centineo said, “If we were trying to do ‘Bourne [Identity]’, it would have been sick to have all those gadgets and gizmos. But we’re just doing a show about a kid that wants to be a lawyer that gets thrown into the world of espionage, and I loved it for what it was.”

As for the cast and characters, following characters will make a comeback in Season 2:

  • Noah Centineo – Owen Hendricks
  • Colton Dunn – Lester
  • Laura Haddock – Max
  • Aarti Mann – Violet
  • Fivel Stewart – Hannah
  • Daniel Quincy Annoh – Terence
  • Vondie Curtis-Hall – Walter Nyland
