Sony Pictures released the trailer for their upcoming film- The Garfield Movie on Monday, November 13. The trailer gives the first look at Chris Pratt’s upcoming animated project. Pratt stars as the iconic titular cat in the movie, alongside co-stars Samuel L. Johnson, Brett Goldstein, Nicholas Hoult, and Hannah Waddingham.

Directed by Mark Dindal, the trailer reveals a first look at the storyline which will focus on the titular cat’s bond with his owner Jon Arbuckle. It shows some of the key traits of the cat including his love of foods like lasagna and the hold he has over his owner.
The synopsis for The Garfield Movie reads, “After an unexpected reunion with his long-lost father — scruffy street cat Vic (Jackson) — Garfield and his canine friend Odie are forced from their perfectly pampered life into joining Vic in a hilarious, high-stakes heist,” as per People.
Though the film is still months away from its release, it has already become quite infamous due to its lead actor Chris Pratt. In the Garfield trailer, the actor displays a lazy interpretation of the cat, whose voice sounds strikingly similar to the actor’s typical voice. This will likely provoke strong viewer response like in Super Mario Bros, where Pratt voiced the lead Mario and the voice sounded exactly like the actor’s speaking voice. Though the film turned out to be a smashing box office hit, it didn’t help Pratt’s reputation as a voice actor.
