Actor Matthew Perry best known as Chandler Bing (FRIENDS) passed away at the age of 54 in Los Angeles. According to reports, the first responders found him unconscious in a hot tub and were unable to revive him. Rest In Peace, Matthew Perry (1969 – Forever)! Born in Massachusetts, US, on August 19, 1969, Matthew Perry moved to LA in his teens to pursue acting. He appeared in guest roles in shows like ‘Charles in Charge’ and ‘Growing Pains’. In 1994, Perry got his big break with F.R.I.E.N.D.S (1994-2004) and he was the “final, and youngest, lead actor to be cast” for the show.

His character Chandler Bing was occasionally insecure and awkward, and the most sarcastic one in the group. “I’m not so good with the advice… Can I interest you in a sarcastic comment?” Chandler became a fan-favorite character, along with his co-stars Matt LeBlanc, Lisa Kudrow, Courteney Cox, Jennifer Aniston, and David Schwimmer. Here’s a list of the top 10 Chandler-centric F.R.I.EN.D.S. episodes in memory of Matthew Perry.

S1 Episode 7 (The One with the Blackout)

Matthew Perry became the breakout since the first episode with his comedic timing, especially in episode 7 “The One with the Blackout”. In this episode, a blackout happens in NYC which traps Chandler inside an ATM vestibule with Victoria’s Secret model Jill Goodacre. The whole time he tries to impress Jill before he ends up choking on a piece of gum. We had the most laughs because of Chandler’s thoughts, “Gum would be perfection? I loathe myself.”

S2 Episode 19 (The One Where Eddie Won’t Go)

Part of Chandler’s comedic charm came from his best friend and roommate Joey (Matt LeBlanc). In this episode, we get the most laughs because of his new roommate Eddie (Adam Goldberg). In episode 16, after a quarrel with Chandler, Joey moves out. Chandler tries his best to find some commonality with his new roommate Eddie, but fails. Eddie watches Chandler while he sleeps; He accuses Chandler of sleeping with his girlfriend, who just visited their apartment for a few minutes to drop Eddie’s fish tank.

In this episode, after asking Eddie to leave twice, Chandler finally believes he moved out but well… “Ding dong the psycho’s gone…Yes, yes I actually saw him leave, I mean that guy is, STANDING IN THE WINDOW HOLDING A HUMAN HEAD…” All this while, Joey was struggling with his acting career, so he decided to move back in. Chandler and Joey made Eddie believe that this was not his apartment. Can you imagine them with some other roommate?

S3 Episode 11 (The One Where Chandler Can’t Remember Which Sister)

One of the funniest aspects of the show is their awkward and wild dating lives. Chandler was no stranger to this theme. But this episode was not about Janice, it was about Joey’s sisters. When Chandler gets a little too drunk at Joey’s birthday party, he fools around with one of Joey’s sisters, Mary Angela. To save himself for the moment, he says he is in love with her. However, the real issue is, that he doesn’t know which sister. He plans on going to Joey’s place to apologize to her. His plan doesn’t go well as all the sisters are present at the dinner. He ends up getting punched in the face by one of Joey’s sisters, Cookie.

S4 Episode 12 (The One with the Embryos)

It was in the episode we found the iconic name “Miss Chanandler Bong”. They played Ross’ trivia game to find out who knows their friends better, Chandler and Joey or Monica and Rachel. Though we got to know Chandler and Joey know the girls better, we also learned no one knows what Chandler’s job is. (Note: He is not a transponster)

S5 Episode 14 (The One Where Everybody Finds Out)

Chandler and Monica’s secret relationship is one of the funniest parts of the show. From Phoebe (Lisa Kudrow) finding out about them through Ross’s window (MY EYES! MY EYES!) to Phoebe seducing Chandler, the whole messer vs. messee game is chef’s kiss. “They don’t know that we know that they know we know.” Phoebe is brilliant in this episode but so is Chandler who invites Phoebe over to “feel his bicep…and maybe more,” all these to reveal their secret. In this episode, Chandler finally confesses to Monica that he loves her.

S6 Episode 24 (The One with the Proposal)

In Season 6, we saw how romantic, awkward, and sarcastic Chandler Bing can be. After a series of failed proposal attempts Chandler is ready to give up on the idea of asking Monica for marriage. But then he walks into the apartment to find the room lit with candles and Monica down on one knee for him. Monica fails to complete her speech as she starts crying. He finally gets to ask Monica for marriage. This has to be one of the best television proposals of all time.

S7 Episode 5 (The One with the Engagement Picture)

Monica decides that she and Chandler should have their couple’s photo in the newspaper. She discovers that Chandler has a weird issue with the camera. He can smile and laugh naturally, but, as soon as the camera starts to click, his face turns into a hilarious and awkward expression. Chandler looking awkwardly at nothing, especially not the camera will always be funny.

S8 Episode 6 (The One with the Halloween Party)

Monica hosts a Halloween party and Chandler wears a pink bunny costume. The look is hilarious especially because of the bunny nose attached with teeth. On the other hand, Monica slays the Catwoman costume, like always. She picked the bunny costume for Chandler. “It was the pink bunny or no bunny at all,” she tells him. “Always no bunny at all!” Chandler responds. The arm wrestling match between Chandler and Spudnik aka Ross (David Schwimmer) is one of the best Ross and Chandler moments in the show.

S9 Episode 15 (The One with the Mugging)

For the most of FRIENDS show, Chandler spends working at a job he hates, however, in Season 9 he leaves his job to find something new. He lands an internship at an advertising company where he feels out of place being the oldest one in the internship. However, the internship took a positive turn for him when he came up with the perfect new show design. This episode was filled with laughter as Chandler tried his best to sell cheese, bagels, grapes, and more.

S10 Episode 15 (The One Where Estelle Dies)

The final season of F.R.I.E.N.D.S. was full of changes for the group. Monica and Chandler are moving out of the city. They finally managed to find their dream house only to learn that there was another buyer interested. And who else would it be other than Chandler’s ex-girlfriend Janice? In this season there are some soft moments and the eventual farewell of our favorite friends group.
