God of War: Ragnarok Kratos vs Nidhogg Gameplay Leaks, Watch Here

Do you remember the dragon Hraezlyr boss fight from God of War (2018)? The one after you exit the mines? Well, yeah God of War: Ragnarok is back with another such boss fight and this time it is even bigger and better. So, without further ado, check out the gameplay video below along with a short description.

The video opens with Kratos and Freya making their way towards the roots of the Yggdrasil tree. If you know a bit about Norse Mythology, then you know that the tree of Yggdrasil connects the 9 major realms including Midgard and Asgard making the inter-realm travel possible using the bi-frost. The reason for ther quest is unknown but it looks like Freya needs to reach the roots. But before they could do that, they are attacked by Nidhogg, who is the protector of Yggdrasil.

Nidhogg seems like a real tough boss with a huge health bar and you’ll notice that the fight mechanics are a bit similar to Hraezlyr from previous game. Also, like most boss fights, it too has different phases which require you to think and act rather than just smashing buttons on your controller. In between the fight Kratos holds Nidhogg while Freya breaks free of her bird form and joins the fight. While Nidhogg doesn’t exactly look like your usual dragon, it can throw projectiles from its mouth as well as its claws so beware.

Eventually, after a lengthy and tiresome battle, you’ll nab it and Freya will ask you to hit it in the stomach. At the end of the battle, Kratos and Freya together stop it from entering back into the portal. Kratos hold it when it’s about to enter and Freya closes the portal chopping its head off in a really graphic sequence. After that Freya moves on to complete her objective and absorbs (?) the power of the roots and then once again expresses her anger and frustration about Kratos killing Baldr. An emotional sequence follows and it seems like Kratos and Freya truly bond as friends in this moment.

That’s it from this article! God of War: Ragnarok is all set to debut on PS4 and PS5 on November 9, 2022!
