God of War Ragnarok Tyr Actor's Comments Explained, Spin-Off or DLC

Its funny that how the moment we were all waiting for came, stayed briefly, and then passed just like the entire year did. When you look a few months back to the time Santa Monica’s team was being literally harassed by fans, it is even funnier. In the snap of our fingers, God of War: Ragnarok touched all our lives and left a huge hole in our hearts “which grows the more you take away”. Get it? Anyways, now that the short lived Norse saga has been concluded, fans have been left asking what is next for the manliest God who ever walked Greece and Midgard. Well, today we have some exciting new piece of information which has got fans all around the globe really hyped up!

Tyr Will Have A Role in God of War Series’ Future

God of War Ragnarok is Coming in 2022 and There is No Doubt About It

So, since you are here, I am guessing you’ve already played God of War: Ragnarok cause if you haven’t you might be in for some spoilers. Anyways, as you may know, God of War: Ragnarok ended with Atreus and Kratos parting ways and though Sony clearly stated it was the end of Norse saga, it doesn’t mean it is the end of God of War. In fact, according to the recent statements made by Tyr voice actor Ben Prendergast at PAX East 2023, it seems like we might not be done with even the Norse saga just yet.

While discussing Tyr’s role in Ragnarok, Prendergast reportedly said, “all I’ll say is this – it isn’t the last you’ve seen of Tyr.” Prendergast went on to say that he “knows a little, but doesn’t know much,” regarding the future of the God of War series at large. He also mentioned that he’s signed an NDA barring him from disclosing any further information but this info itself is enough to speculate and theorize the future of the series. So, first of all, as you may know it was actually Odin who turned out to be Tyr as he was deceiving our heroes. However, the real Tyr was later rescued by Kratos in one of the side quests and then he could be found all across the nine realms. although he didn’t do anything.

God of War: Ragnarok - Atreus Confirmed As Playable Character by Latest Leaks

So, here are some plausible scenarios as to how Tyr will return and what he could be doing. First of all, a lot of stories remain to be told in the Norse Saga itself and for that, we hope to see an Atreus based spin-off. The entire Atreus and the giants arc needs a bit of closure and considering how they let us play as Atreus, a spin off seems like a great idea. And if in case there is a Atreus based spin-off, you can be damn well sure we’ll see Tyr in that considering how he helped the giants and all. Second scenario could be that Tyr travels not only across the realms but also across different pantheons, so he can show up in the next pantheon Kratos travels to.

I mean what? Was there any doubt there will be another God of War game featuring Kratos? Come on, it has been the flagship and most profitable IP of Sony PlayStation Studios since decades and they surely won’t let their tattooed killing machine go. So, even though Kratos seems to have earned a well deserved rest and even retirement, that won’t be happening anytime soon. He will surely return and when he does, we may see a Tyr cameo. As for the DLC, creators revealed they have no plans for it, which further makes us believe there will be an Atreus based spin-off. Because that storyline has a lot of meat and fans also really want to experience Jormungandr at his full potential, which we couldn’t see in Ragnarok owing to PS4 limitations.

So yeah, an Atreus based spin-off for PS5 seems like the most likely scenario for Tyr’s return. What do you think about it? God of War: Ragnarok is available to play on Play Station 5 and Play Station 4.
