Hogwarts Legacy Fans Cancel Orders As PS4 and XBox One Release Date Delays Again

The Wizarding World is expanding further and owing to that, comes an action role-playing video game called Hogwarts Legacy. After the release of Fantastic Beasts 3, fans do not have much to look forward in the cinematic Potterverse for a few years. So, instead they are looking towards other Wizarding World projects and Hogwarts Legacy was something they’ve been waiting for, since a long time. As you may know, Hogwarts Legacy is an action fantasy role-playing game developed by Avalanche Software and published by WB which release last month on 10th February 2023, for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S. However, it hasn’t yet made its debut on the last generation consoles or Nintendo Switch and it looks like fans will have to wait a bit more for that to happen.

Hogwarts Legacy PS4 Release Delayed Again, Fans Share their Disappointment

Hogwarts Legacy Reviews Round-Up Every Harry Potter's Fan Dream

Although it has been almost 2.5 years since new generation consoles PS5 and Xbox X/S made their debut, loads of gamers are still using last gen consoles. While we’re on the topic, 2023 is probably the final year when new games will arrive on PS4 and XBox One and from 2024 onwards all publishers will be moving on to new generation consoles. Anyways, Hogwarts Legacy was initially supposed to come out on all platforms barring Switch on 10th February. Then it was delayed to April 4, 2023 for PS4 and XBox One and now once again, it has been delayed by a month.

Devs took to Hogwarts Legacy’s official Twitter account to inform about the delay. The tweet read, “We’re overwhelmed with gratitude for the response to Hogwarts Legacy from fans around the globe. The team is working hard to deliver the best possible experience on all platforms and we need more time to do this. Hogwarts Legacy will launch for PS4 and Xbox One May 5, 2023.” Obviously, fans (including me) were massively disappointed by this news as when the wait was finally getting over, another month has been added to that duration. Here are some fans expressing their disappointment with some of them having cancelled their orders:

  • This fan wants a refund“How do I go about a refund? Do I contact y’all or Xbox because you’ve changed the release date how many times especially on older consoles.”
  • RIP Devs? – “Honestly, massive RIP to the dev team who have to develop the game on Xbox One and the Switch”, says Ben.
  • Killed the hype“I preordered on February 15th for the PS4 which was to be released April 10th. So now I’ll have to wait till May 5th? Ugh. By the time I finally get it, all the hype and excitement will be bleh by then.”
  • Getting hard to avoid spoilersWas just celebrating one more month left. So pissed and incredibly disappointed. Been buzzing for this game since 2020 and it keeps getting delayed. You know how hard it is to dodge spoilers? No more delays please!!”
  • Fear of cancellation at the last momentPlease dont cancel ps4 version at last moment please i want to play it on my ps4, will be my Birthday gift, please, i don’t care the delay but don’t cancel, don’t cancel”
  • Jorge Guerri said something we are all feeling, “4 delays, not even one simple apology though…..”

It is definitely a bad news which has gotten fans outraged and pushed them to consider cancelling their orders and in some cases actually cancelling it. Anyways, if you are a fan who’s been eagerly waiting for it though, you’ll find it in yourself to wait an extra few weeks. Also, it is better to receive a qualitative version of the game rather than a rushed or bug filled version. As for the Nintendo Switch release date, it is still on track for July 25, 2023, which again, is a long way ahead.
