Rocky was the first film that Sylvester Stallone starred, where he played a boxer called Rocky Balboa. The screenplay of the film was written by Stallone as well. The film was such success that it started a franchise of its own right back in 1976. The story behind how Stallone wrote Rocky is quite beautiful, inspiring and a bit sad. After Rocky became a huge success there were 5 movies where Hollywood tried to recreate its magic but tragically it didn’t planned as well. All the Rocky films after the first one’s success were pretty mediocre, to the point where they almost smothered the first one’s brilliance. The last Rocky film came out in 2006, every time Rocky was played by Sylvester Stallone. So, just when Hollywood had almost exhausted the Rocky franchise, Ryan Coogler found a way to make a spin-off which automatically look like a sequel.

They took a character from the Rocky universe for this – Apollo Creed or rather his son. Adonis Creed. The film was called Creed and it was lauded by fans and critics. They loved Michael B. Jordan as Creed. The success of the film led to a sequel – Creed II. The sequel definitely kept up with the quality of the first film and both fans and critics were over the moon. Now almost 4 years later we’re getting the third Creed film. Which is great news for fans and this time, the lead star of the film- Michael B. Jordan would be helming it as well. The first trailer for the same was released today.

Creed 3 Features Jonathan Majors as the Antagonist!

The trailer is actually like a synopsis of the entire film. We know that it has been a while after the events of the second film (7 years). Creed has grown-up considerably and he is settled until a powerful force disrupts his balance- his childhood friend Anderson Dame played by Jonathan Majors who we previously saw in the MCU playing Kang. Dame enters Creed’s life as a friend from the past but soon starts claiming what he believes was his, as he was imprisoned but Creed went on to become very successful and he is living the life that Dame believes he deserves.

Soon matters gets worse where the friends from the past stand opposite one another. Creed realizes that Dame is no friend of his and he had to finally face another demon of his past and fight him out in the ring. Dame and Creed clash in a final showdown where it appears Dame is besting Creed only for him to have a self-realization at the final moment about letting go his childhood guilt and knock Dame out, so he can win this title and thus come to peace with the success he has.

To finally believe that the success, he got was something he deserved not something that fell into his lap. I believe this would be the basic storyline of Creed. The trailer looks well shot, Jonathan Majors as Dame is superb and Michael B. Jordan is as perfect as Creed as he ever was. I didn’t like the trailer as through it, I can entirely line-up how the film is going to be like. A little bit of mystery would’ve been good, although, that doesn’t mean I won’t like the film. I’m excited for it. Let’s see how it turns out to be.
