In case you are unaware, Evil Dead Rise is an upcoming American supernatural horror film written and directed by Lee Cronin. It is produced by Robert Tapert with Sam Raimi and Bruce Campbell serving as executive producers. As you might know, Sam Raimi served as the director of the first three Evil Dead films and is basically the creator of this franchise. With him producing Evil Dead Rise, a sequel to Evil Dead (2013), there are high hopes from this film.
Evil Dead Rise Release Is Nearing
Although it’s coming out in 2022, there isn’t any official release date for the film as of now and fans are getting a little impatient. Well, do not worry as we have some good news for you guys. Lee Cronin has confirmed that the editing of the film is now complete which includes the sound design. This means the film release is now really close and it has now entered the final stage of marketing and film promotions.

Cronin has revealed that the film took over 6 months to edit which means it will have solid VFX and all elements you expect from a horror film. This genre of cinema is only as good as its editing, both visual and sound. With that over, the release of the film is now nearing. Although, the film is set in the same cinematic universe as the other Evil Dead titles but will not feature the protagonist Ash.
As of now, we do not know how exactly it will tie into the previous films or tie into them at all. The synopsis of Evil Dead Rise reads:
A road-weary Beth pays an overdue visit to her older sister Ellie, who is raising three kids on her own in a cramped L.A apartment. The sisters’ reunion is cut short by the discovery of a mysterious book deep in the bowels of Ellie’s building, giving rise to flesh-possessing demons, and thrusting Beth into a primal battle for survival as she is faced with the most nightmarish version of motherhood imaginable.
So, fans its time to get back on the hype train. Even though it isn’t the kind of sequel you expected, it might fit nicely into the established universe and provide you a cool dosage of horror to fill your appetite.
