The ongoing Hollywood strikes are impacting the industry and now the films are getting pushed back. Warner Bros. delays the release of Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire. This upcoming film is a sequel to 2021’s Godzilla vs. Kong. The film was scheduled to release in March 2024 but has been pushed back by a month. Studios are shifting their release schedules to accommodate the fact that actors can’t promote their projects.

Impact of Strikes on Godzilla X Kong and More

The ongoing SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes are negatively affecting the movie industry. Writers and actors are unable to promote their upcoming movie or television projects. Popular projects like Barbie, Oppenheimer, and Star Wars: Ahsoka are at an advantage as they began their publicity before the commencement of strikes. Movies that are about to release in September don’t have that advantage. Without proper promotion by the popular cast members, it will be difficult to market the films. Hence, the delay in release dates.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Warner Bros. has delayed the release of Dune: Part Two. The film was previously about to be released in November, now it will be released on March 15, 2024. In doing this change, it is clashing with the release of Godzilla x Kong. This is why the film release of Godzilla x Kong has been delayed by a month and will now be released on April 12, 2024.

Other movies that may shift their dates include The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes and The Marvels. Warner Bros. is keeping Wonka and Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom on their set dates. However, that could change in the future if the strikes continue.
