Searchlight Pictures’ new horror-comedy, The Menu had its first official teaser out a few hours ago. The film directed by Game of Thrones fame Mark Mylod is slated to release in theaters on November 18, 2022. The cast includes Anya Taylor-Joy, Ralph Fiennes, Nicholas Hoult in lead roles. The film also consists an ensemble cast which includes Hong Chau, Janet McTeer, Judith Light, and John Leguizamo in supporting roles.

From the trailer, the film looks like it shares a similar tone with other dark comedy horror flicks that were successful in recent times like Ready or Not, Get Out, The Invitation. It also hints that cannibalism plays a role in the story. The script is written by Seth Reiss and Will Tracy, while the renowned Comedian-Director Adam McKay, who last helmed Netflix’s Decaprio starrer Don’t Look Up serves as the producer. The Menu seems to be another winner for Searchlight Pictures who recently had received critical acclaim for the comedy-thriller Fresh released on the streaming service Hulu this March.
The official premise of The Menu is as follows
“Young couple Margot and Tyler travel to a remote island to eat at an exclusive restaurant run by celebrity chef Slowik, who has prepared a lavish molecular gastronomy menu where food is treated as conceptual art, but his approach to cuisine has some shocking surprises for the guests.”
Anya Taylor-Joy’s Third film in 2022
The Menu is also the third film with Anya Taylor-Joy in the lead role releasing this year. The Northman, which has Anya in lead role released in April to critical acclaim and currently available on Digital and Home media releases. Russell is also scheduled to release on November 4, just two weeks prior to the release of The Menu.
