Barbie Movie: Ryan Gosling’s Ken’s First Look Released!

While we’re all waiting for Ryan Gosling’s latest venture – The Gray Man by the Russo Brothers, Warner Bros. released a first look for the upcoming Barbie film. Having released the first look of Margot Robbie earlier this year, Warner Bros. is trying answer all the skepticism everyone had over whether a Barbie movie is necessary at all. While being a bestselling toy for Mattel, Barbie was also a part of the film culture as the animated movies or shows were often made for kids but this is different. This is a live action adaptation of the iconic doll with Margot Robbie playing the titular character and Ryan Gosling her love interest- Ken.

While there have been previous attempts at making a Barbie live action movie, especially the one which was supposed star Amy Schumer but this venture is special as it is helmed by Greta Gerwig and stars Margot Robbie as Barbie. The Little Women director has proved her directorial and adaptation skills in her filmography that includes an Oscar nod. Talking about the first look, Ryan is seen in bleachy blonde hair with cutoff jean jacket that highlights his incredible physique.

I love the Ken labelled underwear and the all jean-apparel, its nice inclusion with the rest of the outfit. That being said, I really dig the overall pink background of the setting, something similar to what we saw in Margot’s first look as Barbie. It’s trippy and distinct at the same time.

The first looks give us an idea of how Barbie and Ken will be like. Although, if reports are to be trusted then the movie will feature multiple versions of Barbie and Ken of it’ll be interesting to see what the versions look like, will they be similar or completely different. While we still don’t have an image of both Margot and Ryan together to see how they complement each other but we can certainly derive an idea from the two images we have gotten until now.

The film features an extremely talented cast that includes- Simu Liu, Alexandra Shipp, Issa Rae, Will Ferrell, Kate McKinnon. We can be hopeful about getting first looks of these characters pretty soon as well. With the film being almost a year from hitting theatres, the best we can expect are photos or first looks rather than a teaser.
