Dungeons and Dragons Honor Among Thieves Releases A New Trailer

Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among is a successful and popular tabletop game, till this day. It is in the classic tier of games. Given the popularity of the game and the subject matter it has i.e., a diverse selection of dangerous creatures/monsters, magic and heavy lore, the game was adapted into a film in 2000. Least to say the film wasn’t great but it did get two sequels, one was a made for TV movie and the other was a direct-to-DVD film. The films came out in 2005 and 2012 respectively. The game recently popped back into pop culture conversations after its heavy inclusion in Netflix’s retro fantasy- horror series Stranger Things.

After the 2012 film it seemed as if the cinematic wing of the franchise had gone dry. The new project Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves was stagnant in its production for quite a while now but the film has finally broken its shackles and will release this year. The film is directed by John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein. The film is penned by Daley and Goldstein along with co-writer Michael Gilio. As the release date of the film is getting closer the marketing has kick in soon and it looks like it has started with a new trailer!

Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves New Trailer Is Exciting!

The trailer for Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves was truly delightful as it shows us quite a bit of the world and tells us about the central conflict which would be dealt with in the motion picture. I’m not someone who is particularly familiar with the game so of course I wouldn’t understand everything to the minute detail but as a film critic and filmmaker if I simply judge the it as a fantasy movie then a bigger problem surfaces — of originality. We’re at a stage in pop culture where almost everything is done. I don’t just mean plots but literally everything.

Everyone new movie feels like rip-off of something else. I couldn’t shake-off the feeling of “seen it before” while watching the trailer. It looks like blend of Thor: Ragnarok and House of the Dragon. What I’m afraid is the movie will limit itself to just being another fantasy movie that comes out this year. Despite having a great cast I don’t think so this will be memorable adventure. The sequences featuring all kinds of weird creatures was not that weird.

It has dragons and after seeing Game of Thrones and House of the Dragon, I don’t think so anyone can do dragons better. Hopefully, my predictions about the film are wrong and this turns out to be rather enjoyable, fun and memorable affair.
