PS Slim Leaked Video Offers More Size Insights Compared to PS5

Sony is to the gaming industry what Disney is to the Cinema industry. Not only are Sony’s original games are some of the best games ever made, Sony’s PlayStation series also is the biggest in console market. Talking about consoles though, PlayStation 5 has had a bitter-sweet journey ever since it was launched. It came loaded with incredible new features, an amazing DualSense controller, and some great games. But at the same time, it has faced massive stock availability issues since its inception. That was majorly owing to the chip availability crisis during Corona but that that is in the past now as its availability has now increased and things are settling down. But before even PS5 could fully live up to this new gen era, we already have some interesting news about a new PS5 variant!

PS5 Slim Video Leak Reveals Comparative Size

First of all, yes, a new variant of PS5 has been officially announced by Sony and is about to launch shortly, but it will not be called the PS5 Slim. We got reports of the same months ago when Tom Henderson stated this variant will be replacing the existing PlayStation 5 disc/digital version but this will not considered the “slim” version. The reason is quite simple, it is definitely not slim, as you can make out from the leaked video attached below or using this link. This video was originally leaked months ago, but it is now more relevant than ever!

The video launched a flurry of memes, with fan calling it “PS5 – Now 4% thinner!” before getting clarification that this won’t be called the Slim version at all. Anyways, It is not the best looking console but it seems like it comes with some upgrades and isn’t fully digital as earlier reports claimed it to be. As you can see, the disc slot is a part of the console, however, we do not know yet if the disc slot will have backwards compatibility. The new console appears to be both thinner and shorter, and features horizontal slits on both sides for design purposes.

PlayStation 5 Slim Release Date, Price, Specifications, and More

The new PS5 has been reduced in volume by more than 30%, and weight by 18% and 24% compared to the previous models. There are four separate cover panels, with the top portion in a glossy look, while the bottom remains in matte. If you purchase the PS5 Digital Edition, you can add the Ultra HD Blu-ray Disc Drive for PS5 later, as it will also be sold separately for 79.99 USD | 119.99 EURO | 99.99 GBP | 11,980 JPY. You can read the exact specs here. The biggest feature however is that it provides users the option to have a disc drive or not via a detachable disc drive. Although, the detachable drive not usable on digital versions of the current PS5 this could change with future update.
