Tekken 8 Has Received Rating, Release Date Closer Than You Think!

Tekken and GTA series are probably the most popular game series among the millennials as well as Gen Z. Even people who have least interest in gaming have heard of these two games series or played some of these games at least once. Tekken’s first game came back in 1994 and the series reached a colossal high with Tekken 3, which is considered one of the era defining games. Decades later none of the Tekken games have been able to match the same high of Tekken 3 but Tekken 5 and 7 are considered to be pretty solid instalments. Now, nearly 8 years after Tekken 7’s release, we are finally getting Tekken 8 and everyone’s justifiably hyped about it. Adding to hype, we have some information which suggests its closer than you think it is!

Tekken 8 Aiming A 2023 Release Date?

In an exciting development, the PC version of Tekken 8 has been officially rated by South Korea’s Game Rating and Administration Committee. The news was reported by @Yellow_Motion, a reliable information source for all everything Tekken. The game has been reportedly rated suitable for 15 years and above for limited violence. As you can see in the screenshot above, the game was submitted by Bandai Namco Entertainment Korea Co. Ltd under PC platform and online/fighting genre.

But what does this mean? This means that a potential release window could be just around 3-4 months away as games are rated just a few months before their official release. For comparison, Tekken 7 was rated on 2nd February 2017 and saw a worldwide launch for consoles and PC on June 2, 2017. This was a gap of mere 4 months and if this is any indication we could be Tekken 8 as early as December 2023.

Yes, that is being a bit too hopeful, but even if it doesn’t come out in 2023, it is surely set for an early 2024 release and definitely before Q1 2024 ends. There are a total of 18 confirmed playable characters announced for the game including two new characters – Azucena Milagros Ortiz Castillo, a fearless happy go-lucky Peruvian mixed martial artist and daughter of coffee company owner; and Jack-8, the latest and upgraded Jack model, with a new voice and look. The game is set to be released for PlayStation 5, Windows, and Xbox Series X and Series S.
