Keep reading to find out the latest news on the streamer’s Emmy-winning series. The debut will include two installments, with the following episodes dropping weekly on Wednesdays.

The Handmaid’s Tale – Where We Left Off

Although Hulu has released only two pictures, they reveal where the new season will begin following the stunning cliffhanger ending, which left Elisabeth Moss’ June in uncertainty and Serena Joy (Yvonne Strahovski) in despair.

June will suffer the consequences of killing Commander Waterford in the fifth season of The Handmaid’s Tale. June will battle to reinvent her identity and purpose in the aftermath of the previous season’s events. Meanwhile, as Gilead’s reach expands across Canada, the bereaved Serena will try to raise her status in Toronto. Commander Lawrence will also collaborate with Aunt Lydia in Season 5 to transform Gilead and come to power. June, Luke, and Moira will continue their journey to find and save June’s daughter Hannah while fighting Gilead from afar.

First-Look Sets Off The Tone For Season 5

Serena and June, two contrasting characters in the series, are depicted in the two new photos. Serena Waterford, Commander Waterford’s wife, is dressed in mourning attire, including a black veil and gown. On the other hand, Serena does not appear to be depressed but relatively peaceful. Her face is lit up with a little smile as she looks down at an unrevealed object. It seems like Serena will be in a livelier form in the next season, despite her position as a grieving widow.

In the other new image, June, formerly known in Gilead as Offred, is seen wearing white, in contrast to Serena and appears to be far from content. Her mouth became a scowl as her gaze connected with the audience. After assassinating Commander Waterford, June is ready for a fight.

The Handmaid’s Tale is produced and internationally distributed by MGM Television. The series is executive produced by Moss, Bruce Miller, Warren Littlefield, Daniel Wilson, Fran Sears, Eric Tuchman, Yahlin Chang, Rachel Skukert, Sheila Hockin, John Weber, Frank Siracusa, Steve Stark, and Kim Todd. Apart from Moss and Strahovski, the series also stars Bradley Whitford, Max Minghella, O-T Fagbenle, Samira Wiley, Ann Dowd, Madeline Brewer, Amanda Brugel, and Sam Jaeger.
