Netflix’s upcoming Roald Dahl adaptation, The Twits shared its first look on Twitter (presently X). The first look of the animated movie shows the wacky pair of Mr. and Mrs. Twit, against the backdrop of their amusement park, “Twitlandia.” Mrs. Twit welcomes the viewers with a disconcerting pie. A few other Dahl adaptations are coming to Netflix. On September 20, Wes Anderson’s Dahl adaptation of The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar is coming to Netflix.

The Twits follows the story of Mr. and Mrs. Twit and their rise to power. As their supremacy grows in their town, a magical animal family and two orphans team up to protect their city. The animated movie will be produced by Jellyfish Pictures and is expected to come to Netflix in 2025. Directed by Phil Johnson and co-directed by Katie Shanahan and Todd Demong. The voice cast of the show has not been announced yet.
The adaptation comes after a 2021 deal Netflix made with the Roald Dahl Story Company. In September 2021, Netflix bought the company allowing Netflix copyright access to all the classic Dahl stories. The streaming service now has complete control over the royalties and rights of Roald Dahl stories made for both TV and film and other publishing works. This deal has led to several Netflix adaptations. Other than The Twits and The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar, Netflix produced Matilda: The Musical (2022) and is developing a series based on Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar may also followed by other Dahl adaptations from Wes Anderson.
