Top Gun: Maverick Creates Yet Another Box Office Record

Top Gun: Maverick enjoyed a massive box office surge despite the skepticism of audiences regarding theatres. It was lauded by the critics for its great action sequences and most importantly the emotional weight carried by the film. A lot of people found it better than the original including me. Paramount enjoyed the box office success of Maverick of about $1.49 Billion worldwide, as even when the film was available on digital, the film continued to rule the box office. The film broke many box office records throughout its run and then when it went to streaming, there was no stopping as audiences just couldn’t get enough of the Top Gun actioner. So much so that even after a year of its release, Maverick continues to break records at the box office. Check out the latest one.

Top Gun: Maverick Sets Japan On Fire!

Even after a year after its release, Top Gun: Maverick is continuing its rampage on the box office as the sequel has garnered massive numbers at the Japanese box office. Maverick has become Tom Cruise’s biggest hit in Japan. The film is still playing in the Japanese theatres since its release in 27th May 2022. Until now the film has gained $101.5 million, beating out 2003’s The Last Samurai which was the previous best. This phenomenal global reception could be great for a prospective Top Gun 3.

Top Gun: Maverick is the 5th highest grossing movie on the domestic box office ($716 Million) behind Avatar ($749 Million). Despite having no significant hype, the Top Gun sequel has managed to rise above Marvel giants like Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Thor: Love and Thunder and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, all of then were mediocre ventures and Top Gun prevailed over them because of its quality.

Top Gun: Maverick is currently available for streaming on Amazon Prime Video and Paramount Plus.
