The last update we had of Aquaman 2 was Jason Momoa’s first look. An Instagram account called ActionToyNow, shared a picture of a merch toy which showed the first promotional art of Aquaman. The Aquaman vs. Black Manta Battle Set from Spin Master revealed Momoa’s Aquaman with his dashing Atlantean trident at the upper right corner of the box. Despite this being an official look, it was not released by Warner Bros. In fact, there is no promotional footage of the film released by the studio and contrary to speculation the sequel isn’t even delayed to next year courtesy of the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes. So, why is this happening? Does Warner Bros. not want to invest anymore money in the sequel’s marketing as they don’t think Aquaman 2 will work a the box office? But, does that mean the studio can’t even release a trailer? I don’t think so. So, when will Aquaman 2’s trailer release?

Aquaman 2 Trailer Has A Created A Frustrating DC Record!

Except for an exclusive bit of footage for fans during Warner Bros.’ presentation at CinemaCon 2023, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom has not had its first official trailer released online or in theaters as of 29th August 2023. This makes the sequel to have the shortest window between the release of a film’s first trailer and its theatrical release date. There are only 114 days left before Aquaman 2 hits theatres. This is a new DC record and the previous record was also set this year with the trailer for The Flash.

That movie’s first trailer went public on February 12, which was only 124 days before the multiversal disaster finally made its way to the big screen on June 16. So, now Aquaman 2’s trailer can drop anytime as DC doesn’t have any other theatrical release this year now that Blue Beetle’s out. So, Warner Bros. has to start pushing Aquaman 2 at least from September to build some hype given the negativity around the film.
