Black Panther: Wakanda Forever marks the second entry in Marvel’s Black Panther franchise in the MCU’s shell. The film takes place after the events of Endgame and Wakanda us mourning the death of its King and Protector- The Black Panther. The film fictionalizes the tragic death of Chadwick Boseman. Amidst this crisis that has befallen Wakanda, another force rises who has a problem with T’Challa’s decision of opening up Wakanda and Vibranium to the rest of the world- Namor. Shuri while battling her inner demons of grief also has to protect her homeland from this new threat that wanders the water of Wakanda. Ryan Coogler obviously returned to write and direct the sequel. He had to change his original script for the sequel after Boseman’s untimely death.
I found the film better than previous underwhelming MCU projects but in retrospective it was quite forgettable. The film was nowhere close to the quality or box office success of the film. The audiences resonated with the emotional aspect of the film but the average plot, weak characters, terrible fight sequences, horrendous VFX resulted and the bloated screenplay really pulled it down. The sequel did good at the box office as it became the highest grossing female led superhero film. The movie as is at the end of its box office run and will be soon available for streaming on Disney+ but if you’re someone who likes to have physical copies then you’re in luck.
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever Blu-Ray will be available In February!
According to Blu-Ray’s website, the sequel will be available for purchase in the United States from 7th February 2023. The home release bonus features will consist of the following:
- Audio Commentary
- Imagining Two Worlds
- Passing the Mantle
- Outtakes
- Deleted Scenes
The Blu-ray will be available for €21.99 and a 4K UHD combo for €26.99. Fans can also purchase a limited edition Talokan Steelbook or Wakanda Steelbook for €32.99 each. The 4K disc will feature the film with a 2.39:1 2160p image and HDR10, with DTS-HD Master Audio 7.1 sound in English and a DTS 5.1 track in Spanish. That being said, Wakanda Forever has also achieved another milestone at the box office before it could exit theaters. The film has climbed up the ladder of highest grossing female led superhero films worldwide. Check out the complete list:
