Out of the many unnecessary Marvel projects that have been lined up in Phase 5 & 6, the Fantastic Four reboot seems to be the only film that Marvel really cares about. The amount of thought given to the project is immense, something if done to some of the Phase 4 projects, it would’ve definitely benefitted Marvel. There seems to be no haste about anything. Kevin Feigi took his time to find the correct director for this venture- Matt Shakman and he too is making sure that all the elements have lined up perfectly before he heads into production. He has suggested rewrites, and is also taking time with the casting process. According to the latest rumors, Pedro Pascal has been approached by Marvel for the role of Mr. Fantastic. It looks like the rumors don’t stop there as a new name has emerged to take up the role of Galactus.

Fantastic Four: Javier Bardem Cast As Consumer of Worlds?

Industry insider Jeff Sneider on The InSneider revealed that Marvel is seeking out Javier Bardem to play the main baddie in Fantastic Four, Galactus. If the deal goes through then Bardem would play the prominent cosmic entity that is famously known as the “consumer of worlds” and “destroyer of planets”. He gets these titles from eating planets at will to sustain his life force, empowering “Heralds” like the Silver Surfer to scout suitable worlds for him to devour.

In the 2005 and 2015 theatrical entries of Fantastic Four by 20th Century Fox, Galactus didn’t feature, however, Rise of Silver Surfer did feature the iconic character with Doug Jones. The film earned a respectable $302 million at the global box office against its $130 million box office, though critics negatively received it upon release. Bardem is known for playing Anton in the Coen Brothers’ No Country for Old Men for which he earned an Oscar.

The Bond villain is the latest addition of all the big names attached to the Marvel project. If reports are to be believed then Vanessa Kirby is the leading contender for playing Sue Storm. Other names linked to casting in recent months are Adam Driver, Margot Robbie, Mila Kunis and Jack Quaid.

The Fantastic Four reboot is slated to release in theatres on May 2nd 2025.
