MCU is in a tough spot currently. Despite being the leading studio of the world, time post the pandemic hasn’t been easy for them. DC always had their fair share of trouble. They were never able to build a cohesive cinematic universe to begin with. Hopefully, with James Gunn taking over the tide will change. Marvel on the other hand, had a dream run for over eleven years but since then it has been in a slump. The most recent struggle for the studio is the sexual assault accusations on two of their stars- Jonathan Majors and Tenoch Huerta. Adding to the trouble, is the writer’s and actor’s strike which is toying with Kevin Feigi’s plans for Marvel Phase 5. So, due to a multitude of reasons MCU has changed the release dates of many of their movies.

MCU Phase 5 Slate Has Been Reshuffled Once Again!

In June, Marvel had come out to officially give us a new release schedule of their films releasing in 2024 and beyond. Who would have thought that just months later the studio would be forced to reshuffle their slate once more. As the actors’ strike has ended, Marvel has once again revealed a new release schedule for their upcoming films. The first one obviously being Deadpool 3 which has been pushed from its original May 3rd, 2024 to July 26th, 2024 (Captain America: New World Order’s previous release date).

New World Order on the other hand has been delayed by almost by six months, taking up Blade’s release date of February 14th, 2025. The Fantastic Four reboot keeps its release date of May 2nd, 2025. Thunderbolts has also taken quite bit of a hit as the film will now arrive in theatres on July 25th, 2025. Bad luck continues to be the Blade reboot’s only consistent feature as the Mahershala Ali starrer is delayed by over a year to November 7th, 2025. We don’t have any update on other Marvel TV titles that were supposed to release in between these films and beyond.

It appears as if Marvel is sticking with with the release dates of Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars of May 1st, 2026 and  May 7th, 2027, respectively. What is staggering is Marvel will have only one theatrical release in the year 2024, the studio is infamously known for at least three consistent releases per year. However, the studio does make up for it in 2025 where they have 4 major theatrical releases in quick intervals of time.

Don’t forget catch Marvel’s latest TV show Loki season 2 on Disney+.
