For those who are unaware, in the universe of Star Wars, an acolyte refers to individuals with force abilities who learn from a more experienced Sith Lord. Star Wars: The Acolyte series for Disney+ is being developed by the co-creator of the Emmy Award-winning Netflix series Russian Doll, and Leslye Headland. The first trailer for The Acolyte was finally revealed a month ago and fans were left quite unimpressed with what they saw. It was essentially the same trailer as was shown to a select crowd during Star Wars Celebration 2023. Anyways, we have now finally received something which might get you all hyped!

As you may know, The Acolyte is set at the end of the Star Wars franchise’s High Republic era, approximately 100 years before Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace (1999). The show will follow a respected Jedi Master investigating a series of crimes that bring him into conflict with a former Padawan learner and reveal sinister forces. Some of you might be aware that Carrie-Anne Moss is going to be a major part of this show, and as it happens, we now have a major leak which shows her character in all her glory! So, before we move on, watch the leaked clip below.
This highly impressive fight sequence instantly reminded viewers of The Matrix, and Honk Kong style martial arts fighting. Some even compared it to Mortal Combat because of the look of Moss’ opponent. Being set in a time period where Sabers were used as a last resort, their martial arts driven approach actually makes a lot of sense. Anyways, if you aren’t aware, Carrie-Anne Moss is playing a character called Indara who is a Jedi Master proficient in “Force-fu” fighting.
As per reports, the creator Leslye Headland wanted the audience to immediately feel that Indara was “the most powerful Jedi in the room”. It is quite clear from the clip and their approach that Indara is heavily inspired by Moss’s portrayal of Trinity in The Matrix film series. As it happens, when creating the character it was actually intended for audiences to see Indara as “Trinity with a lightsaber”. And boy, we can surely say that Moss has indeed still got it!
Apart from Moss, the series also stars Amandla Stenberg, Lee Jung-jae, Manny Jacinto, Dafne Keen, Charlie Barnett, Jodie Turner-Smith, Rebecca Henderson, Dean-Charles Chapman, and Joonas Suotamo. The Acolyte is all set to premiere on Disney+ on June 4, 2024, with its first two episodes and the other six episodes will be released weekly.
