Star Wars All Upcoming Movies and Series After Obi-Wan Kenobi

Now that Obi-Wan Kenobi is over, you’re undoubtedly looking forward to all the upcoming Star Wars movies and TV series. The film directed by Taika Waititi will be released next year, along with several other titles. The Kevin Feige project, Patty Jenkins’ Rogue Squadron, and a range of shows are all coming to Disney Plus, including the much-anticipated season 3 of The Mandalorian. We’ve compiled a list of every upcoming Star Wars film and series. The Star Wars Celebration revealed new looks and additional details on some of these projects. Read on to know all that and more!

Andor – August 31, 2022

Even though he was one of the most awful characters in the cast, Diego Luna’s portrayal as Cassian Andor in Rogue One was one of the film’s strongest aspects. And while the outcome of Andor’s story is known, much of his past is still a mystery. The upcoming live-action prequel series will center around the rebel’s dark and sinister past. In May 2022, Disney not only revealed that Andor would arrive on August 31 but also dropped a trailer teasing fans of what was to follow.

Star Wars: The Bad Batch Season 2 – Fall 2022

It should come as no surprise that a second season of the Clone Force 99 from The Bad Batch would return to combat sooner rather than later, given that it was one of the most anticipated and popular Disney+ series of 2021. While a precise release date hasn’t been disclosed, Disney released a new trailer in May 2022 that indicated a “Fall 2022” launch window.

Star Wars: Tales Of The Jedi – Fall 2022

Star Wars animated series has a long history, and shows like Tales of the Jedi (debuting on Disney+ at some point in Fall 2022) will take the tradition forward. IGN reports that the new anthology series, unveiled at Star Wars Celebration, will tell Ahsoka and Count Dooku’s storylines by touching on various aspects of their lives. In addition, Liam Neeson’s Qui-Gon Jinn will make a comeback in the show.

The Mandalorian Season 3 – February 2023

There is more curiosity than ever before about how The Mandalorian Season 2 will develop because of how Mando and Baby Yoda, er, Grogu’s story ended in the stunning Season 2 finale. In October 2021, actor Carl Weathers, who also serves as one of the show’s directors, took to Twitter to announce that The Mandalorian Season 3 production had begun. The Star Wars Celebration revealed that The Mandalorian Season 3 would premiere on Disney+ sometime in February 2023.

Star Wars: Skeleton Crew – February 2023

When Star Wars: Skeleton Crew debuts on Disney+, Jude Law will join the ranks of actors who have been in both Star Wars and Marvel. A group of 10-year-old children lost in the universe will be the focus of the Amblin-style show, who are searching for a means to get home. The series will take place between the fall of the Empire in The Return of the Jedi and the rise of the New Order in The Force Awakens.

Star Wars: Visions Season 2 – Spring 2023

Influenced by Japanese cinema and anime, Star Wars: Visions offered fans of the franchise a different outlook on the galaxy far, far away when it was launched in September 2021. According to a tweet from the official Star Wars Twitter account, the series will return to Disney+ sometime in the spring of 2023 with a second collection of short animated films.

Young Jedi Adventures – Spring 2023

As was revealed at the Star Wars Celebration, Young Jedi Adventures, the first full-length animated Star Wars series made particularly for pre-schoolers, will soon be available on Disney+ and Disney Junior. The series will feature small kids in the High Republic era as they follow the path of the Jedi and discover the value of brotherhood, compassion, and discipline. Although a precise release date has not yet been set, the series is expected to air sometime in the spring of 2023.

Star Wars: Rogue Squadron – December 2023

Star Wars: Rogue Squadron is an upcoming film that will follow the famous group of X-Wing pilots that have not yet been featured in the franchise. The movie will be helmed by Wonder Woman 1984 director Patty Jenkins. Since it was first announced, there have been many speculations regarding the project, including rumours that it is on indefinite hold. The theatrical release of Star Wars: Rogue Squadron is still planned for December 2023, although it’s unclear if that schedule will stay considering other titles premiering at the same time.

The Acolyte – TBD

The co-creator of the Emmy Award-winning Netflix series Russian Doll, Leslye Headland, will soon develop her own Star Wars series for Disney+, The Acolyte. Variety reports that the series will centre on women, set in an unexplored period in Star Wars history. In December 2020, it was further disclosed that the show would welcome viewers into a galaxy packed with mystery and the emerging dark side.

A Droid Story – TBD

Another Star Wars movie is in the works, but this animated release will only be available on Disney+. A Droid Story, chronicling the epic journey of an unrevealed droid who will be joined by C-3P0 and R2-D2, resulting from a partnership between Lucasfilm Animation and Industrial Light & Magic, according to what Disney stated on the December 2020 investor call. Many details are yet to be announced regarding this special.

Ahsoka – TBD

Disney and Lucasfilm announced Ahsoka in December 2020 as the new live-action series that will focus on Rosario Dawson’s Ahsoka Tano. No information has been released on the actual subject matter of the show, but it is assumed that it will follow the Jedi after her encounter with Mando and Grogu in The Mandalorian Season 2. Production began in May 2022 after a number of casting announcements in November 2021 and subsequently in February 2022 (with the addition of Hayden Christensen’s Anakin Skywalker).

J.D. Dillard Standalone Movie – TBD

J.D. Dillard, who directed the 2016 indie sci-fi hit Sleight, has been chosen to helm his own Star Wars film, written by Matt Owens. When the concept was first revealed in February 2020, it wasn’t quite clear whether the film would be released in theatres or exclusively on Disney+. Even if we have to wait a few years, this project will be worth it, as anyone who watched Dillard’s Sleight, which follows a street magician who transforms into a superhero, knows that Dillard is an excellent writer and filmmaker.

Kevin Feige Produced Standalone Movie – TBD

Initially revealed in September 2019, the standalone Star Wars movie, produced by Kevin Feige, is one of the most eagerly awaited forthcoming Star Wars projects. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter in February 2020, Endgame director Joe Russo stated that Feige’s first love was Star Wars and that his vision for the franchise would be unique, passionate, and emotional. In January 2021, Deadline announced that the film’s script would be in the hands of Loki executive producer Michael Waldron.

Lando – TBD

In December 2020, those awaiting a show about the escapades of one of the galaxy’s coolest scoundrels were blessed with the announcement of Lando coming to Disney+. Little is known about the live-action series, especially who will be playing Han Solo’s former foe Lando Calrissian. Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy confirmed the series has not progressed as of May 2022.

Taika Waititi Standalone Movie – TBD

Academy Award-winning director Taika Waititi was destined to direct his own Star Wars film after working behind the camera for the shocking finale of The Mandalorian Season 1. Following months of rumours, the announcement of the Thor: Ragnarok director’s involvement with the franchise was revealed in May 2020. The Jojo Rabbit director mentioned in July 2020 that he and 1917 writer Krysty Wilson-Cairns were working on the script. In May 2022, Kathleen Kennedy confirmed that Waiti’s project is the next in line and that they were aiming for a “late 2023” release.

Rian Johnson’s New Star Wars Trilogy

There was a lot of backlash after the launch of Rian Johnson’s Star Wars: The Last Jedi, but Star Wars is far from done with him. Before Johnson’s 2017 movie was released, Lucasfilm announced that their partnership would continue with the production of an entirely new trilogy of films. In December 2019, Johnson quickly denied speculations regarding the mysterious project, and there haven’t been many updates ever since.
