This Saturday will see the release of the first Chucky season 2 trailer. Based on Don Mancini’s Child’s Play movies, Mancini’s Syfy/USA Network horror TV show Chucky takes place after the events of the seventh film, Cult of Chucky. Brad Dourif makes a comeback to voice the titular Good Guy doll as it kills once more in the sleepy New Jersey town of Hackensack. Chucky also reintroduces some old characters like Andy (Alex Vincent) and Tiffany (Jennifer Tilly), but the plot mainly focuses on a new group of teens, played by Zackary Arthur, Teo Briones, Alyvia Alyn Lind, and Björgvin Arnarson.
Chucky Panel At SDCC 2022 Has Been Cancelled
The first season of Chucky was well received by critics and spectators alike. One of the biggest premieres of 2021, it was acclaimed for the series’ return to the horrific horror roots of the franchise. Only one month after its premiere, Chucky received a season 2 renewal due to its popularity and success.
As a recent teaser revealed, the next season will premiere on October 5. Additionally, it was announced that on July 23, 2022, Chucky would host a panel at San Diego Comic-Con with a few surprise guests. A fresh update, though, indicates that plans have changed. Chucky’s SDCC panel has been postponed due to some reconsideration from the show’s production team, according to a video statement from Chucky showrunner Mancini that Syfy recently posted. Despite the panel being cancelled, a new teaser trailer for season 2 will nevertheless debut on Saturday, previewing the horrific mayhem that the killer doll will unleash once he returns to television, the producer assured disappointed fans.
Mancini mentioned that “an abundance of caution” had led him to “rethink the strategy,” even if he didn’t go into detail about the reasons behind his decision to withdraw from SDCC 2022. The Chucky team probably made this challenging choice in light of the escalating COVID-19 cases in both the US and Canada.
