Whether OTT platforms are good for the world or not will keep on being debated, however, their rise has surely led to the phenomenon known as content overload. What started with Netflix, Itunes and Prime, has now exploded into a global phenomenon and today US alone has nearly 400 OTT platforms. The leaders among these are Netflix, Hulu, Prime, Disney+ and HBO Max, with Apple TV+, Peacock, Paramount+ slowly rising through the ranks. Each of these platforms, not only hold tons of pre-existing films and TV shows but also a bucketload of originals to their name. Well, let us find out which of these originals topped the charts of 2023!
Most Watched TV Shows of 2023 – Disney Plus, Netflix, Prime, Hulu and More!
This most watched TV shows of 2023 list was compiled by the data analysts Whip Media (via Yahoo News) and consists of only the rankings of the year’s originals. So if you’re expecting F.R.I.E.N.D.S to be on this list, you are at the wrong place. Now to begin with, it was a great year for Disney+ as its originals Mandalorian and Loki hold the top 2 spots with a total of 4 in top 10. However, aside from that these 4 not a single other Disney+ original was able to break into the top 30. Moving on, Netflix managed to deliver 3 originals in top 10; 7 originals in top 20; and 11 originals in top 30. The highest ranked Netflix original is You Season 4 at 4th place.
As for PrimeVideo, none of its original managed to break into top 10, however, it delivered 4 originals in top 20; and total 5 originals in top 30. The highest ranked PrimeVideo original is Gen V at 11th place. Hulu delivered 2 originals in top 10; and total 3 in top 30, with the highest ranked original being Only Murders in the Building Season 3 at 5th place. Technically, Apple TV+ had a much better year than these two OG streaming giants with 1 original in Top 10; 3 originals in top 20; and 4 originals in top 30. The highest ranked Apple TV+ original is Ted Lasso Season 3 at the 3rd place!
Finally, Paramount+ managed to deliver 2 originals at 21st (1923) and 25th (Criminal Minds) place; whereas Peacock delivered exactly 1 original (Poker face) at 27th place.
