A poster for the upcoming YA fantasy movie The School for Good and Evil has been revealed by Netflix. Charlize Theron, Kerry Washington, Sofia Wylie, and Sophia Anne Caruso can all be seen dressed in magnificent costumes in their respective roles on the poster. The good and evil schools can be distinguished by the accented colour tones in the background. “Whose side are you on?” wrote Netflix teasing audiences along with the new poster, which you can view below.

The movie is based on the same-titled, best-selling young adult fantasy series by Soman Chainani. The book has been translated into 30 languages and has sold over 2.5 million copies. It follows best friends Sophie and Agatha as they navigate the magical school and discover that they are on opposite sides of the conflict between good and evil. Caruso and Wylie play the primary characters of Sophie and Agatha, respectively, in the film. While Washington is starring as Professor Dovey of the School of Good, Theron plays Lady Lesso of the School of Evil. Cate Blanchett has been cast as the narrator of the movie.

Filmmaker Paul Feig has directed the movie, and it was written by writers David Magee (Life of Pi) and Laura Solon. In an earlier interview with Variety, Chainani said, “To have one of your favourite directors adapt your book into a film for Netflix is an honour and a dream. Paul Feig is a brilliant filmmaker and a master of tone – a perfect fit for the twists and turns of ‘The School for Good and Evil.’ I have no doubt that he will make a true fairy tale classic.”

Feig, known for his work in Bridesmaids, Ghostbusters, and A Simple Favor, expressed his excitement, “I feel like a frog that just turned into a prince. I’m truly excited to bring this amazing, touching, funny, and empowering world that Soman created in his wonderful books to life.”

Along with Kit Young, Rachel Bloom, Peter Serafinowicz, Mark Heap, and Patti LuPone, the film also stars Michelle Yeoh and Laurence Fishburne. The movie will be produced by Feig, Joe Roth, Jeffrey Kirschenbaum, Jane Startz, and Laura Fischer of Feigco. Additionally, Zack Roth, Patricia Riggen, and Chainani will serve as executive producers.

Netflix will release The School for Good and Evil on October 21.
