Scream 6: Neve Campbell Exits the Film

The beloved horror franchise, Scream created by the master of horror, Wes Craven, back in the late 90s recently saw a resurgence earlier this year with a rebooted sequel and fifth installment Scream 5, released on January 14 to critical and commercial success. The film saw the return of fan favorite characters like Sidney Prescott, Gale Weathers and Dewey Riley played by  Neve Campbell, Courtney Cox and David Arquette respectively. Alongside the veteran cast, the film also starred Melissa Barrera in a lead role. Well Scream 6 is now in production and we have a rather bad news for the fans.

Neve Campbell Leaves Scream

After the success of Scream 5, the makers have announced Scream 6, which is slated to release on March 31, 2023. The official trade news now is that Neve Campbell is exiting the franchise over pay issue. The actress also released a statement about not returning to the franchise. Neve Campbell said the following about her exit from Scream 6:

“It’s been a very difficult decision to move on. To all my Scream fans, I love you. You’ve always been so incredibly supportive to me. I’m forever grateful to you and to what this franchise has given me over the past 25 years.”

James Vanderbilt and Guy Busick wrote the screenplay for Scream 6, while the director duo, Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett are returning once again to helm the sequel after Scream 5.

Scream 6 Plot & Characters

The plot of Scream 6 is currently underwraps and unknown at the moment. Meanwhile, Scream 6 is going to have a lot of familiar faces first introduced in Scream 5. It was also announced that Hayden Panettiere would reprise her role of Kirby Reed from the fourth film. In addition, Dermot Mulroney was also announced as part of the cast just a few days back.
