Focus Features has released an official teaser for Lisa Frankenstein. Universal Pictures International is taking care of the international distribution. And, Focus Features is handling the US distribution of the film. Set in 1989, Lisa Frankenstein follows an ordinary high school teen who accidentally re-animates a Victorian corpse, and soon things turn into romance. The film stars Kathryn Newton, Cole Sprouse, Liza Soberano, Jenna Davis, Joe Chrest, Henry Eikenberry, and Carla Gugino.

The script is written and produced by Academy Award Winner Diablo Cody (Powerpuff, Juno). It will be directed by Zelda Williams (Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles) in her feature-length directorial debut. Producer Mason Novick and Cody have previously collaborated on Young Adult, Juno, Tully, and Jennifer’s Body.
Williams who has worked in animation and on TV marks this project as her feature film debut. Before the commencement of the production, she was open about her long way to this film. “I know Hollywood gets a bad rep for regurgitating sequels and remakes and reboots over and over and over… and yeah, it totally does that!” Williams said on social media last year. “But it’s also finally letting me make the most bonkers, wonderful zombie script I’ve ever read, and for that, I will be forever grateful!”

“A coming of RAGE love story from acclaimed writer Diablo Cody (Jennifer’s Body) about a misunderstood teenager and her high school crush, who happens to be a handsome corpse. After a set of playfully horrific circumstances bring him back to life, the two embark on a murderous journey to find love, happiness… and a few missing body parts along the way.”
Lisa Frankenstein will be out in theatres on February 9.
