Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan is the new Salman Khan film which is coming out this month in fact it is coming out in a matter of two weeks. Like most of the mainstream Bollywood films these days it is also a remake. A remake of which film? Nice question. It is the 2014 film called Veeram starring Ajith Kumar. The film was a superhit back then when it came out and Khan has decided to adapt it in the Hindi belt now with Farhad Samji being in charge of helming the project. Apart from Khan the film has an extravagant cast including but not limited to Pooja Hegde, Siddharth Nigam, Venkatesh Daggubati and so on. Being a Salman Khan starrer, the film is obviously mounted on a huge budget of 100 crores+. After a lot of hype caused by teaser releases and a lot of music videos, the official trailer for Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan has been released!

Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan Trailer Looks Stale!

After Bharat which released in 2019, Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan would be the first Salman Khan film to have a full fledged theatrical release. Radhe had a limited release and Dabangg 3 and Antim were directly released on OTT platforms. We all know what Salman Khan’s cinema is but I think we can all agree that there are films or rather performances where he actually puts in effort that makes even the most absurd things make sense. However, the rest of his filmography is filled with performances that is him sleepwalking through the entire film.

Unfortunately, at least based on the trailer it feels like KKBKKJ is one of those Salman Khan where no effort has been put. Farhad Samji as a director has not been able to extract a memorable performance from Khan. The first music video released by the makers of the film was atrocious in my opinion but then the decent teaser and the surprisingly good Billi Billi song got my hopes high for the film. However, the trailer has severely let me down. The entire film or whatever shown in the trailer looked fake to me.

As if it all happened in movie set, the film doesn’t feel tangible. About the plot. Of what I could gather it felt very late 2010s Bollywood and I think it is fair to say that cinema has evolved since then and even mass cinema has got a grammar to it. I think Pushpa is a perfect example of mass cinema done right. Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan doesn’t give me the same vibe. The dated nature of the project makes sense as the story being adapted is itself from 2014, I think we’ve come a long way since then.

Since theatres have opened up there is a big chance that this film will be a huge success because of the fanbase that Salman Khan has. However, I think this will be another mediocre addition to Salman Khan’s filmography. Audiences might be done with this kind of cinema but these are all assumptions and only the box numbers of the film will give us any concrete answers.
