Primetime is a 2026 American psychological thriller directed by Lance Oppenheim from a screenplay by Ajon Singh. The film dramatizes the production of the reality television series To Catch a Predator, with Robert Pattinson portraying host Chris Hansen. Merritt Wever, Skyler Gisondo and Phoebe Bridgers also appear in supporting roles.
The film premiered at the 83rd Venice International Film Festival on September 5, 2026, before its theatrical release in the United States on September 25 through A24. It received positive reviews from critics and has grossed $34.4 million against a $14.5 million budget. However, Hansen himself was not consulted during production and criticized the film as being detached from reality. Primetime Digital Release Date
Primetime will be available to buy or rent digitally from platforms including Amazon Video and iTunes on November 3, 2026. The digital release comes just over five weeks after the film’s theatrical debut, giving audiences the opportunity to watch Robert Pattinson’s latest psychological thriller at home.
Blu-ray and DVD Release Date
The Blu-ray and DVD release for Primetime is currently scheduled for January 15, 2027, although the date has initially appeared through international retail listings. A premium 4K UHD release could arrive earlier, potentially around mid-December 2026, for collectors and specialty retailers. Editions and Formats are as follows:
- Standard Blu-ray: Traditional Blu-ray packaging with the film and standard bonus content.
- Standard DVD: Standard-definition physical edition.
- 4K UHD / Blu-ray Collector’s Edition: A premium A24 release featuring the film in 4K UHD alongside a Blu-ray copy.

When Will Primetime Stream on Max?
Primetime is expected to stream exclusively on Max following its theatrical and home entertainment run. A24’s agreement with HBO/Max gives the streaming service the film’s subscription streaming window. An official streaming date has not yet been announced, but Primetime is currently expected to arrive on Max around January 2027. Depending on the final home entertainment window, the film could debut on the service alongside or shortly after its January physical release.
For now, November 3, 2026 is the confirmed digital release date, while January 15, 2027 for Blu-ray/DVD and January 2027 for Max remain the expected home entertainment dates.
