Theatres have reopened thanks to the pandemic being gone which means we’re seeing more films releasing in theatres than on OTT platforms. This means that now we can’t get every newly released film at the comfort of our homes, and we have to step out of our house and go to the cinema halls. While I love going to the theatres not everyone does. Also, there are some people who like to carry a film in their pockets like literally, they want to have a copy of the newly released film with them, regardless of the quality. Since, the film is not digitally available, the only option till them remains piracy, that is actually going in to theatres with equipment to record the film illegally. You may not want to accept it but yes, it happens and you’ve most probably downloaded such content as well. The rate of piracy has seen a sudden increase since the superhero genre of films took over the industry. The reason is the massive world-building where everything connected to each other and these franchises have massive fanbases, everyone wants to know what is going on in the next one. Here’s the list of the Top 10 most pirated films of 2022:
Spider-Man: No Way Home Leads the Top 10 Most Pirated Movie of 2022
Variety just revealed the list of most pirated films of 2022, the list majorly includes Marvel or DC films which makes sense considering their popularity and fan base. What is surprising is that the most pirated film of last year is a film from the previous year, the third installment in the MCU Spider-Man films aka Spider-Man No Way Home. This just tells you what a big deal it was for people when all three Spider-Men came together. Out of all the piracy the film nearly acquired a quarter of it. The second film on the list is The Batman which makes sense.
Followed by what I can say MCU’s best attempt at presenting a film- Multiverse of Madness below which is the second worst film of 2022- Thor: Love and Thunder. Then we have DC’s Black Adam and then the first non-superhero film- Uncharted. Honestly, I don’t know who is so curious to watch Uncharted, it will only disappoint you. Another film from the previous year which has made to this list is Eternals. Following the MCU flick is Top Gun: Maverick which is a film that deserves everything in the world.
The second last on the list is the worst film of the year-Jurassic World: Dominion, I don’t know why people are dying to watch this abomination at home and ruin their mood and life. The last one on the list is Disney’s animated movie which had become quite the sensation- Encanto. Here’s is the complete list of the top 10 with their share of piracy:
